  • Head Brewer Position at Trademark Brewing in Long Beach, CA

    Trademark Brewing® is seeking a Head Brewer for our production brewery and tap room, located in Long Beach, California. Established Professional Brewers with commercial experience should apply. 3 years (minimum) professional experience is required, and preference will be given to those with formal training.

    The 19,500 sq/ft facility is located at the top of Downtown Long Beach in an up and coming area with lots of redevelopment. The 3,000 sq/ft tasting room faces a major thoroughfare and a large outdoor patio on a private courtyard. We’re just 300’ from light rail and public transit, and we expect a bustling tap room. We’re investing in the neighborhood with and excited to have the right individuals come join the team.

    Our Beerfolio is broken into three primary categories: everything hoppy, continental (German, UK, French, Belgian, etc), and barrel aged (big beers, sours and funk). This is an opportunity to create a broad array of beers in a collaborative environment with lots of creative freedom to experiment. We have invested heavily in high end equipment, including a highly automated 17bbl mash filter brewhouse and 240bbl of unitanks in the cellar. Foeders, a barrel program and a laboratory in the works as well. We prefer to work smarter, not harder, while creating amazing beer with a focus on quality, consistency and innovation.
    Minimum Qualifications
    • 3 years professional brewing experience
    • Excellent sensory abilities and recipe development skills
    • Grain to glass brewery experience
    • Packaging experience with cans, bottles and kegs
    • Experience with reverse osmosis and custom water profiles
    • Laboratory / QC experience preferred
    • Formal training / education preferred
    • Loads of common sense and self-motivation
    • Excellent detail-oriented communication skills
    • Detailed knowledge of industry standards and trends

    Primary Responsibilities
    • Collaborative recipe development
    • Brewing and beer production
    • Yeast propagation and management
    • Sanitation, sanitation, sanitation
    • Cellar and packaging management
    • Inventory management

    Additional Responsibilities
    • Beer-centric education and sensory training for staff and customers
    • Coordinating the beer production with our promotional calendar
    • Representing TMb at festival and events, and promoting our brand

    Physical Requirements
    • Lift 55lbs and move (160lb+) heavy objects
    • Stand for 8-12 hours/day
    • Ability to handle and work safely with chemicals
    • Handle hazardous materials safely
    • Work in hot or cold environment for extended periods

    Being a new brewery, we'll all put in some long hours and work some evenings and weekends as required.
