    Taproom Manager

    House 6 Brewing Company, in Ashburn, VA is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and passionate craft beer expert to oversee all operational aspects of our new tasting room opening Summer 2018. This individual will join a small, but highly motivated team and will be instrumental to the continued growth and success of the brewery.

    About House 6:

    House 6 is located in Ashburn, VA in the rapidly growing area near One Loudon. We will be brewing an extensive range of beer styles on our new 10 BBL brewhouse: light ales, IPAs, porters, stouts, with some lagers, kettle sours, and barrel-aged beers. Our unique fire-house themed 2,000 sq ft tasting room, along with a future patio area, will be the perfect place for our patrons to enjoy our beers.

    Position Description

    The Tasting Room Manager will ensure that all our customers have the best possible experience and strives to please our customers with our compelling culture, spirit and exceptional customer experience.

    The Tasting Room Manager will: serve House 6 Brewing Company’s beers, manage our tasting room servers, manage our food truck partnerships, promote and sell House 6 merchandise, and maintain website and common social media sites with product and event information, promotions, etc.

    Status: Full-time, 40+ hours/week (work is in the afternoons and evenings, Wednesday-Sunday)

    Wage: Salary; based on experience and education

    Job Description:

    • Supervise, train, and manage tasting room employees (including work scheduling)
    • Manage food truck schedule
    • Maintain website and social media sites with product and event information, promotions, etc.
    • Serve House 6 Brewing Company’s beers in the tasting room in accordance with ABC regulations
    • Interact with our guests and coworkers in a friendly, enthusiastic and outgoing manner
    • Be able to answer questions and make recommendations regarding our beer selection
    • Fill and sell growlers
    • Record orders accurately and promptly into a Point of Sale system
    • Accept guest payment, process credit card charges and make change, if applicable
    • Clean draft beer system bi-weekly
    • Change out kegs whenever needed (replacing empty kegs with full ones)
    • Ability to troubleshoot draft system/kegs
    • Load, operate, and empty glasses using an automatic glasswasher
    • Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the bar including counters, sinks, shelves, etc.
    • Clear and clean tables and bathrooms in the tasting room
    • Analyze trends on visitors, beer consumption, and sales
    • Promote and sell House 6 Brewing Company merchandise and our mug club memberships
    • Manage retail inventory and create (document) procedures for re-ordering
    • Lead or assist monthly brewery tours
    • Daily opening and closing of the tasting room for public and private events
    • Be willing to be trained on the art and science of craft brewing and craft beers

    Qualifications:

    • Be of 21+ years of age
    • Management/leadership experience
    • Strong communication and customer service skills
    • Positive attitude
    • Punctual and reliable attendance
    • Honesty and Integrity
    • Knowledge of tasting/taproom operations and service procedures
    • Knowledge of beer, with basic knowledge of brewing and/or the brewing industry
    • Possess basic calculation skills; the ability to handle money and operate a cash register
    • Management-level computer literacy and knowledge (including common social media sites)
    • Ability to work quickly, problem solve and think on your feet
    • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (8-10 hours)
    • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and lift up to 55 pounds; team lift 165 pounds
    • Knowledge of beer styles, flavor profiles, serving techniques, and a eagerness to learn more

    Education and/or Experience

    • High school diploma or GED equivalent minimum, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
    • Two years of management-level experience in the service/hospitality industry
    • Cicerone server certification required (at hiring or shortly thereafter)
