  • Packaging/Cellar Lead

    This position will report directly to the brewmaster and be responsible for fulfilling customer demand for Dry County’s quality craft beers. This position works with the brewmaster to produce a schedule for packaging, transfers, cleanings etc. and has day-to-day oversight of operations in the packaging department including all kegging and canning operations (Wild Goose 250), conducts weekly inventory of packaging materials and works with vendors to ensure timely delivery of the required quantities of these materials to the brewery.

    The Packaging Lead is responsible for coordinating the reporting and analysis of packaging data, including information on QA/QC, yields, labor, and efficiency, and works with the Brew Master to develop procedures for improvement in these areas. This position assists with developing and executing a preventive maintenance schedule, as well as with quality control and regulatory compliance. In conjunction with the managerial responsibilities of the position, the Packaging Lead will regularly fill production shifts in the brewery.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    Abides by workplace safety regulations while upholding quality standards

    Operates equipment needed for the following activities: product packaging, product transferring, vessel CIP (clean in place), warehouse organization, and order filling

    Continual lifting, dragging, carrying, and manipulating of hoses, parts, pumps, buckets, and reservoirs, requiring standing, walking, crouching, and lifting regularly throughout the duration of the shift

    Assists in general sanitation of all beer contact surfaces and equipment

    Transfers beer between vessels, assembles and dismantles hard and soft piping pathways

    Prepares beer for packaging, packages beer, organizes and records packaged product

    Performs routine preventative maintenance and cleaning on equipment and infrastructure

    Works with rest of packaging team to fill orders and complete daily duties in a timely fashion

    Assistance with marketing as needed, including occasional attendance at events

    Assistance with planning and oversight of capital improvement projects

    Other duties as assigned

    Desired Minimum Qualifications
    Experience: The ideal candidate will have a strong background in brewing fundamentals and a variety of brewery experience. 2+ years of experience in brewery operations, and experience with double-seamed cans and canning equipment highly desirable, experience with Wild Goose canning lines a strong positive, a passion for craft beer is required.

    Knowledge & Skills
    Previous experience in a production environment

    Strong leadership skills and management experience

    Knowledge of and interest in the craft beer industry

    Organizational skills and ability to make long range plans and goals

    Ability to interact professionally and effectively with employees and the general public.

    Experience in a fast-paced work environment and the ability to multitask. The ability to think on your feet and adapt, flexibility is key.

    Strong reasoning ability and problem-solving skills.

    Strict attention to detail.
