Emmett’s Brewing Co. is a Chicago area brewery with four brewpub locations. We’re looking for a full-time cellarman to join the brewery team at our packaging location in Palatine, IL. No prior brewing experience required but a familiarity with the industry is strongly preferred.
While skills and abilities are important, the right attitude and an eagerness to learn are equally important. The right candidate should possess a strong mechanical aptitude and an ability adhere to our systems and standards. The job will be dynamic, often with intense deadlines, and multiple tasks that need to be completed in a high quality manner on short notice.
PHYSICAL:
- Ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds, climb steep stairs repeatedly and work in tight spaces
- Ability to record all brew house information accurately and legibly
- Willingness to be frequently exposed to wet conditions and work in extreme cold or hot conditions
- Ability to work evenings and weekends periodically
TECHNICAL:
- General knowledge of the brewing process
- Cellar – tank CIP, dry hopping and yeast management
- Packaging of draft and bottled beer
- Cellar work including beer transfer, filtration, and carbonation
- Tank cleaning and sanitation
- Cellar and cold box cleaning
- Line cleaning
The cellarman will report directly to our Head Brewer. General job duties include cellar work, cleaning, kegging, filtration, bottling and managing raw material.
