  • RTD / Solenoid Wiring / Control panel wiring diagram

    Does anyone have a straight forward wiring diagram of how the RTD on tank, solenoid on glycol drop and control panel all should interact?

    Your controller should tell you that in its wiring diagram. Which pins are the TC/RTD input, and which ones are the output. It would vary between controllers.

      That's pretty much all there is to it.

      Power Source into Controller (panel) - 24V/120V/240V ect
      Signal Input into Controller (panel) - RTD/TC
      Signal Output from Controller (panel) - Solenoid

        I believe hes looking for a schematic to make or have someone make their own...

        better luck finding something like that on a home brewing forum homebrewtalk.. Most folks here buy everything prebuilt and certified it seems.
        Its pretty simple to do really if you stick to controller like the stc 1000 with DPST relays and the like but you can make it pretty complicated as well.

          They really are not difficult to wire, but without knowing what controller you are using, there's no way someone can give you a wiring diagram, other than what was previously given. The Temp probe goes to the controller, the controller acts as a switch on one of the control wires to the solenoid. You need power for both, if you use a 120v solenoid, you must have the tank bonded to ground. So stick with 24v, its safer, but bonding the tank to ground is always a good idea. But the best diagrams will come with your controller, usually included in the packaging, though you might have to download it from the spec sheet online.
