  • Northern Row Brewery and Distillery seeks Head Brewer

    Northern Row Brewery and Distillery, located in the historic pre-prohibition brewing district of Over the Rhine, seeks a head brewer. Located in a massive and historical pre-Prohibition lagering and ice house, we will respect our heritage by producing clean lagers in addition to cutting edge ales that have driven craft growth.

    The Head Brewer will complement our Director of Fermentation (DoF). The role will be focused on recipe formulation, brewing, SOP implementation, landing on best lab practices, procurement of ingredients, and eventually assisting in distillation and wine fermentation/production.

    Example of duties:
    Order, Inventory, and manage movement of raw materials.

    Assist the (DoF) in logging raw materials in Orchestrated Beer.

    Understood accountability for any raw material shortages and discrepancies on the production side.

    Lay the ground work for production best practices and SOPs.

    Creation of a commercially viable barrel aged program, both sour and clean.

    Knowledge of basic conversion factors.

    Knowledge of, and willingness to help spearhead safe work practices.

    Ambition to drive the creation of a sustainable staff education program in conjunction with the Taproom GM and the DoF.

    Education and Know-How:
    Four-year college degree, in related field is preferred, but not required.

    Minimum of 5 years as a professional brewer on a >10bbl system is preferred.

    Innovation in a brewing portfolio is a must.

    Ability to tangibly demonstrate knowledge of best practices in brewing, including safety and sanitation.


    Compensation is commensurate with experience.
