Black Dog Brewing Company is looking to hire a head brewer that can help us create the ultimate craft beer experience.
The Head Brewer will report directly to the General Partner and will have a high level of responsibility for day to day brewhouse operations. This is a “hands-on” position that will require strenuous lifting (60 lbs or more), bending, stooping, climbing, etc. Our ideal Head Brewer will have a flare for the artistic side of brewing and should be willing to explore new flavors and styles but should also be grounded enough to understand good business practices.
Duties and responsibilities will include:
1. Maintain necessary records and logs in organized fashion.
2. All beer making functions: grain handling, brewhouse operation, kegging, racking, packaging, etc.
3. Purchasing and inventory management.
4. Understand and strive for quality, efficiency, and cost sensitivity.
5. Regularly communicate with General Partners regarding production and operation status.
6. Train and educate tap room staff on Black Dog beer styles.
7. Off-site promotion
8. Participate in occasional consumer education events (beer dinners, classes etc.)
Strong candidates will have the following:
1. At least three year’s professional brewing experience (head or assistant brewer)
2. Experience brewing with a Premier Stainless brewhouse (or similar system)
2. Great communication skills
3. Capable of managing and preferred experience in managing a staff
4. Excellent project management skills
5. Food education or background is a huge plus
6. Good mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills
Location: Mooresville, Indiana
Salary is commensurate with experience and vested limited partnership is included (4 year vestment period).
