    Local Brewing Co. is a brewery with a firm foundation in the San Francisco beer scene.     Local functions as a beer bar (serving all Local house brews), as well as a production 10-barrel brewery serving 100 select draft and retail accounts in the Bay Area. We have an extremely talented and tight team at Local, and as we grow, we’re looking to bring aboard a key member to our Brewing Team.

    This role includes all aspects of brewery production cellar work, including CIP of the brewhouse, fermentation/conditioning vessels, keg cleaning and maintenance, transfer of product, carbonation of finished product in time for release, kegging of product for accounts and in-house beer bar -- all with strict adherence to standard operating procedures set forth in training. Assist in brews and eventually lead brews.

    As a key member of the Brewer Team, you will provide direct support to our Head Brewer and maintain day-to-day brewery operations. You will be responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary environment, also managing all tap lines and inventory for our onsite Beer Bar. Upon mastering the cellar duties, there's the opportunity to assist the Head Brewer in brews and learn aspects of brewing on our 10bbl system.

    Daily responsibilities include:
    • Daily CIP of brewhouse, fermentation tanks and bright beer tanks
    • Daily cleaning and maintenance of kegs
    • A dedication towards maintaining a clean, neat, and safe work area
    • General cleaning of cellar and brewhouse areas including floors, vessels, piping, etc.
    • Periodic handling of hazardous chemicals
    • Continually maintain all brewery/production areas including equipment – (mill room, brewhouse, fermentation, spent grain bins, as well as all walkways and driveways around or leading to brewery)
    • Monitor and take readings of CO2 levels in beer
    • Monitor and take gravity readings daily
    • Document daily activities and inventory in logs
    • Assist with canning of beer
    • Volunteer to pour beer and represent the brewery at beer festivals
    • Be courteous and professional when representing the brewery (on-site or off-site)
    • Work with FOH team members to provide the best beer experience for customers
    • Occasionally deliver beer to accounts and provide line cleans for accounts as needed

    Minimum requirements:
    • At least one (1) year of cellar work experience at a 7bbl brewery or larger; this position does not require previous experience brewing, although knowledge of beer and the brewing process is a key aspect of this role
    • Familiarity with draft systems and operation of serving tanks
    • A passion for beer and brewing, and unwavering focus on quality
    • Must be exceptionally detail oriented
    • Must be able to work independently, as well as with a team
    • Ability to problem solve when challenges arise
    • Respectful, Team player mentality
    • Must be punctual and able to arrive to work on time and keep a production schedule
    • This is a very physical role. Must be able to lift 55lb. at least 60" high on a daily basis; occasionally lift up to 170b
    • Embrace changes in procedure geared towards ongoing improvements to process
