    Job Title: Head Brewer
    Reports To: Owner of Full Tilt Brewing
    Supervises: Assistant Brewer


    Job Purpose

    The Head Brewer manages all aspects of brewing, training of Assistant Brewer, sanitation, and safety procedures, while promoting Full Tilt Brewing. The Head Brewer will maintain the integrity of the brewery and its operations by adhering to all brewery rules and schedules. The Head Brewer will understand and have the ability to perform all aspects of the brewing process.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Below is a list of the primary job duties and responsibilities.

    • Manage recipe development and integrity.
    • Supervise cleanliness and sanitation procedures for all brewery operations and equipment including compliance with CIP (Clean-In-Place) standards.
    • Supervise adherence to kegging, transferring, cellaring, bottling/canning procedures, and schedules.
    • Provide oversight of all brewery personnel and operations.
    • Complete lab testing and quality control procedures.
    • Evaluate and monitor beer produced and raw materials involved in brewing.
    • With the production manager, schedule work in the brewery to meet budget and production requirements.
    • Operate brew equipment to maintain desired inventory of raw materials and maximize production of beer.
    • In consortium with production manager, provide weekly product and brew forecasts.
    • Serve as a spokesperson for the brewery and the product.
    • Attend all management meetings as required.

    Qualifications

    Below are the minimum qualifications required to successfully perform the position of Head Brewer.

    • Possess advanced beer knowledge and keen sense of smell and taste.
    • Ability to nurture and train Assistant Brewer and other brewery staff.
    • Fundamental knowledge of plumbing and machinery mechanics/maintenance inherent to the brew process.
    • Ability to nurture growth and expansion in the brewhouse through foresight.
    • Have a focused skill-set that supports the business of craft brewing.
    • Displaying a high level of professionalism and customer service insight.
    • Strong organizational and scheduling skills.
    • Ability to work independently in a team environment.
    • Minimum 4 years’ experience working as an assistant brewer role at an established commercial brewing company.
    • Must be willing to be the face of the brewery for multiple locations.
    • You must possess great people and communication skills, including the ability to interact with the public throughout the day, conduct brewery tours daily and
    attend all special events. If you are not a people person, please do not apply.
    • Display a high level of professionalism and guest service insight.
    • Strong organizational and scheduling skills, initiative and self-motivation is a must.
    • You will have ability to work independently and in a team environment.
    • Ability to accomplish basic mathematical functions, including algebra.
    • Must be at least 21 years of age.
    • A valid driver's license free of any major violations in the last three years.
    • Ability to lift up to 110 pounds consistently and move 150 pounds.
    • Ability to stand, stoop, bend and work overhead for extended periods of time.
    • Ability to climb ladders, stairs and ramps.
    • Ability to work in small, confined spaces.
    • Ability to work within a loud to moderate continuous noise in work area.
    • Willingness to work with strong and often hazardous chemicals.
    • Must be willing work during any hours of operation including weekends, evenings, and special events as required.
    • Finally, and most importantly you must not be water soluble.

    Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

    This position is physically demanding. By accepting the position of Head Brewer, the candidate acknowledges the physical demands of this job, and acknowledges that they are capable of fulfilling these requirements.

    • Ability to lift up to 110 pounds and move 150 pounds
    • Ability to stand, stoop, bend and work overhead over the course of several hours
    • Ability to climb ladders, stairs and ramps
    • A valid driver’s license free of any major violations in the last three years
    • Ability to work in small, confined spaces
    • Ability to pass a background check
    • At least 21 years of age
    • Ability to accomplish basic mathematical functions, including basic algebra
    • Ability to work continuously on wet floors and with wet equipment.
    • Ability to work within a loud to moderate continuous noise in work area.
    • Willingness to work with strong and often times hazardous chemicals.

    Expectations

    The Head Brewer must be available for work during any hours of operation including weekends, evenings, and special events as required. The Head Brewer is expected to be flexible in scheduling and punctuality; integrity of all staff is strictly enforced.

    Smoking is prohibited everywhere on company grounds, except in designated outdoor areas.

    Attire should be sensible for the work you that is being performed, and appropriate for representing Full Tilt Brewing dress for success. Close-toed shoes are required.
