Verdugo West Brewing Company is located in Burbank California and produces a variety of Ales, Lagers, Mixed Culture and Barrel Aged Beers. We currently operate a small tasting room in Burbank and we are partnered with a distributer in our local Southern California market and with a distributor located in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Position: Assistant Brewer
Job Description: Work as an essential part of the brewery to consistently manufacture great craft beer for our consumers. As the Assistant Brewer you will work directly under the Head Brewer whose standards will be followed to produce great craft beer. If hired you will fulfill a 90 day probationary period which can lead to a full time position with a raise based on performance. During the probationary period your work ethics will be tested before training on brewhouse/cellar equipment starts. This position will be optimal for somebody who is wishing to break into professional brewing or who wants to expand their already existing career. This job will not be your normal 9-5 Monday-Friday job. Hours will vary, schedules can change, and some days can be long but the work is engaging and fun.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Being able to communicate clearly with all team members.
• Being a positive representative of the Brewery at all times.
• Maintain constant cleanliness and organization of assigned work space.
• Follow set standards on all day to day operations.
• Maintaining proper documentation on all steps of production.
• Maintain acceptable inventory of raw materials and beer.
• Operate brewing equipment
• Preform CIPs of brewery equipment
Job qualifications:
• Ability to work and communicate well with others.
• Know Microsoft office programs.
• Organized and detail oriented.
• Ability to problem-solve and get assistance as needed.
• Possess basic beer knowledge, a good sense of smell, a good sense of taste and be able to distinguishing flavors and colors in beer.
• 2+ years of brewing experience which can be home brewing and/or professional brewing.
• Strong understanding of brewing processes.
• Flexible schedule.
• Lift 55 lbs from ground to shoulder.
• Lift 110 lbs from ground to waist high and moving 150 lbs along the floor.
• Work in confined spaces.
• Work safely around heavy machinery and chemicals.
