Hey Folks,
We are looking for a new brewer to join our team here at Sumerian Brewing Co, in Woodinville Wa.
Sumerian Brewing Co started production in 2015 and has only been increasing production since.
We run a 15bbl Premier Stainless 2 vessel steam fired brewhouse into multiple 60's, a few 30's and a 15.
So far our production has split us between draft and cans. Recently we have purchased our own Wild Goose 250 making it easier to package on demand.
Nuts and bolts of the job:
So, everything can be taught but we don't have a lot of time to babysit. Meaning if you have experience that is ideal, but we are willing to train the right person with less experience.... but you must have some time in a brewing production environment. So if you are young and green but a hard worker thats fine!!!
However....
The right applicant will:
-Understand the brewing process, the elements of brewing, brewing practices and can confidently brew a beer on our size brew system.
-Understand and execute sanitation to the highest standards
-Cellar work from cleaning tanks, chem handling, pitching yeast, dry hopping, CO2 adjustment, clarification, filtering, etc....
-Ideally know canning lines, if not, the willingness to learn!
-Clean kegs and package.
-Attention to detail is a must!
-Understand safety and safe work environments.
-Ability to perform light maintenance and understand mechanical working of a brewery....including troubleshooting and problem solving.
-Ability to prioritize and multiple task.
-Meet deadlines and understand timing.
-Ability to work first or second shift or a hybrid of the two. We have been known to start early and go late
Typical requirements:
-Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. is required, also the ability to move a 165 lb keg safely.
-Willingness to work on and around potentially dangerous equipment/machinery is required.
-Ability to stand for long periods of time and do physically demanding work is required.
-Wet, cold, hot environments.
-Proficiency in forklift and pallet jack is a plus!
-Willingness to occasionally work events on weekends
We are a brewery on target to make over 3000bbls this year, we have a small staff and have fun working together.
We all wear many hats, so if you want to join a small team please apply!
Oh ya......
Loud music ranging from chill to death metal is normal around here.... No smashing pumpkins or r&b, thats just how it is ...
We make mostly west coast style brews, meaning lots of IPA's... never say never but we don't like fruit or veggies in our beer, and we only have one hazy one...
Compensation is DOE but based on experience. Medical after 90 days and of course beer benefits!
