  • Is there a market for raw materials if a brewery is closing?

    Hello all,

The brewery for which I work may be closing its doors in a couple of months, and we have an assortment of things that may be for sale. Of course there will be the normal stuff; used equipment, hosing, hardware, chemicals and such, and hops. But we also have a bunch of grain that we will likely try to unload. About a year ago our grain mill crapped out, and instead of buying a new one we have been getting our grain pre-milled. I'm not gonna post a list of what we have on hand on this thread, if we do end up selling it all the list will be elsewhere. But before I get into any of that...

Here's the question: Is there a market for pre-milled grain?

Any thoughts, comments, or advice would be appreciated.

    Post them to Probrewer.com classifieds

    Hi ,
You’ll need to create an additional user account for posting classified ads to use our new system if you don't have one already.

Once you do that you (or your brewery) can post free ads under brewing supplies, etc. To sell off materials and gear to other brewers in need.

Pre-Milled grain has a shelf life. I personally wouldn't use pre milled grain that is older than a month or two. Just in my experience, the flavors, characteristics and overall quality of the grain starts suffering the moment it is milled.
