Maintenance & Reliability Engineer
Purpose:
The Maintenance & Reliability Engineer will have a primary emphasis on the overall performance and improvements of Avery’s three packaging lines, while helping the engineering department with brewery-wide maintenance and projects as directed by the Engineering Manager.
Scope and Reporting Structure
The Maintenance and Reliability Engineer, MRE, reports to the Engineering Manager with primary responsibility and focus on the Packaging department, and the rest of the facility/processes as needed and assigned by the Engineering manager and Plant Engineer.
Responsibilities:
Equipment performance analysis & improvements:
Performance analysis including packaging line efficiency monitoring (OEE, ME, FE)
Daily cleaning and inspection auditing, work order generation and scheduling during line down time,
Work order analysis for repeat failure and predictive failure analysis,
MTTF, MTTR, MTBF measurements,
SOP generation, continuous improvement and auditing
Coaching operators and leadership on SOPs, changes and improvements,
First call for emergency failures
5S cleaning and organization responsibilities in maintenance shop and shared plant workspace
Critical spare part stocking, organization, inventory and optimization
Read technical documentation and verbally transfer knowledge as well as communicate technical issues with equipment manufactures
Drive and collaborate in root-cause analysis and elimination of failures including 5-Why and FFA (formal failure analysis)
Lead line performance indicator improvements as outlines by the Engineering and Packaging managers.

Advanced troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
Root cause analysis (5-Why Analysis)
Strive for continuous improvement in self, process, policy, and organization
Proficiency with 5S organization
Clear communication skills and ability to explain complex ideas in simple terms, including persuasion-through-explanation.
Ability to work with a team
Microsoft office, email, engineering software familiar
Technical degree or certificate in an Engineering related field
Production brewery experience
Understanding of brewing, cellar and packaging process
Proficiency in services and functioning of pumps, motors and controls
Drive motor, gearbox and conveyor experience
Familiarity with Autonomous Maintenance, Asset Care, TPM
Bonus Skills:
Electrical wiring: 5-24VDC, 110, 208, 480 VAC
Electronics troubleshooting and repair skills, including PLC
Sanitary TIG welding
Metalworking experience
Physical Requirements:
Weekend work often required
Ability to lift heavy items up to 60lbs, stand, squat, and work in hot or cold or humid environments for an extended period
Availability for unplanned emergency repairs
Physically and mentally able to work in tight spaces and in close quarters with others
Compensation:
Competitive salary based on level of experience. Eligible for medical and dental coverage at 50% of premium after 90 days with additional coverage at 18 months.
Eligible for 401k after 60 days with 3% company match
