    Job Summary:

    The Brewery Production Manager oversees the beer production team at Ore Dock Brewing Company while also working to promote the brewing culture and community focus of Ore Dock Brewing Company while always representing the vision of Ore Dock Brewing Company and its melding of these two main philosophies. In close coordination with the president and brewery production team, this individual ensures the quality, consistency, and timeliness of all beer production by ensuring that all production teams are working together effectively, communicating efficiently, and are being held accountable for their various tasks. The Brewery Production Manager will report to the Brewery President. The position is an at-will management position which is part of a managerial team.


    Key Responsibilities (but are not limited to):
    • Work with Head Brewer on product conceptualization and availability, taking into consideration the market and feedback from Sales Associates
    • Oversee all brewing, cellaring, and packaging of Ore Dock Beer
    • Work with the Lead Brewer and Brewery President to coordinate a global brewing schedule to meet forecasted demands
    • Ensure production schedules meet customers’ needs while balancing the age of full goods inventory and minimizing stock-out situations
    • Lead and manage all production-related staff, providing relevant training, coaching, and mentoring
    • Provide support as needed to all production team members, filling in for team members should the need arise
    • Conduct performance evaluations in accordance with Company policy and provide appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary
    • Work with the production team to develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all aspects of production: brewing, cellaring, wood-aging, packaging, warehousing, and maintenance.
    • Develop performance and productivity metrics for production team and hold team members accountable for achieving common goals
    • Work with all brewery staff to ensure quality and consistency standards are met
    • Oversee key sourcing and raw material relationships critical for our core beers
    • Forecast deliverability issues and communicate these ahead of time to our distributors and tap room managers
    • Work alongside the Lead Brewer and Assistant Brewer on new recipe formulation, costing, and execution
    • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers at all levels to meet company goals
    • Work with sales team to forecast production needs on time-sensitive releases
    • Work with Head Brewer and Sales Associate(s) to plan and execute beer festivals
    • Attend offsite events as a key representative of Ore Dock Brewing Company as deemed appropriate
    • Manage all tasks related to fulfilling customer orders – from the point of receipt to confirming orders, which includes working directly with distributors on product allocations, determining product availability for shipment, working with sales on special event orders and executing order changes.
    • Provide weekly communications with Tap Room staff on draft availability, naming and description of ODBC beers
    • Provide insight and feedback on creation of labels and associated marketing material for distributed brands



    Supervisory Responsibilities:
    • The Production Manager supervises the brewery production team



    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Requirements:
    • Must possess a passion for craft beer and have formal brewing education and/or professional brewing experience
    • Management level experience in a production brewery with firsthand experience in developing new processes and managing culture is preferred
    • Strong communication skills to interact with customers, vendors, and coworkers in a professional manner. The position interfaces with multiple departments within the company; thorough and effective communication is vital.
    • Experience in cross functional teams within the brewing industry preferred
    • Posses the ability to inspire and motivate a team
    • Ability to give and take direction
    • Leadership experience, preferably in the craft beer industry
    • Mechanical and/or electrical aptitude preferred
    • Excellent time management skills and experience working independently
    • Excellent computer based skills




    Physical and Mental Requirements:
    • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk, talk, hear, use hands to finger, grasp, handle or feel, push, pull, reach, crouch, kneel, crawl or bend, and perform repetitive motions of the hands and/or wrists
    • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds, and be able to move kegs which weigh close to 165 pounds
    • Extremely close visual attention such as making delicate adjustments to control high speed operations to exercise very precise muscular control



    Environmental Conditions:
    • While performing the duties of this position, the worker is exposed to inside environmental conditions, extreme heat, potential for physical injury, exposure to hot fluids, pressurized vessels and transfer lines, strong odors, chemicals, and moving machinery. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud most of the time.
    • We, as with all breweries, use hazardous chemicals. You should know how to handle them safely and how to not pour them in, on, or around your face or other sensitive body parts.
    • In our brewery, as with all breweries, we are bringing liquids to a boil. This means there is hot stuff near you. You should know not to touch the hot stuff.
