The Family Jones is a Colorado Craft distillery with 2 facilities. A small distillery and tasting room in Denver and a larger, production facility in Loveland, Colorado. We make a wide range of spirits with a heavy focus on whiskey production.
We are currently looking for an Assistant Distiller / Delivery Driver that splits time between our Denver and Loveland operations.
A production member at The Family Jones is responsible for operating the mash cooker, still and packaging equipment as necessary to take a batch from raw ingredients to finished product, per the existing Standard Operating Procedures, as well as shuttling between Loveland and Denver facilities. As a part of a growing production facility, he or she must also be constantly seeking ways to improve speed, efficiency and safety while maintaining quality. While we strive to maintain a fun and friendly environment, production workers must also strive to set the tone within the company with a high level of professional conduct and attitude. As a member of our delivery team individuals are expected to carry themselves in a professional manner both on the road and in our customers establishments.
Main Duties
On production team:
• Operate mash cooker, still, bottler and labeler, and accompanying equipment.
• Drive box truck with finished product and mash between Loveland and Denver.
• CIP of cooker and still.
• Complete necessary paperwork for all activities.
• Regularly communicate with lead distiller on projects and issues.
• Maintain clean, safe, and orderly work areas.
• Basic light mechanical repairs to equipment when necessary.
• Assist in improving procedures.
• Housekeeping and hygiene/general upkeep in still house ensuring site is always "tour
ready"
• Assist in inventory management and ordering
• Routine troubleshooting and maintenance
• Maintain a safe and compliant work environment
On delivery team:
• Delivery of boxes and/or use of loaded dolly up/down stairs at accounts
• Coordinate maintenance of company vehicle.
• Able to communicate with accounts to assess satisfaction with product, get invoices signed, etc
• Use product knowledge and sales ability to spread the word about the brand
• Update account info in Excel
• Use of Stillhouse distillery software to create/print invoices
• Pick up checks and assess inventory from accounts
• Attend weekly sales meetings
Necessary Skills/Experience
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Must have a clean driving record, valid drivers license and insurance.
• Must be familiar with navigating Denver, Colorado Springs, Boulder, Fort Collins and surrounding areas.
• Must be able to work effectively with the lead distiller, head distiller, and other production staff to meet production needs as well as the sales staff regarding delivery needs.
• Able to manage time effectively and plan efficient routes
• Comfortable in a bar/restaurant setting (mostly back of house)
• Must be able to Operate forklift and other heavy machinery.
• Communicate well, both written and verbal.
• Troubleshoot and solve equipment problems.
• Logical and practical when problem solving.
• Work in a team environment.
• Ability and interest in learning.
• Work independently with minimal direct supervision and an eye on thoroughness and quality.
• Maintain a high level of professionalism and organization. Candidates should be serious about safety, quality and cleanliness.
• Must have a High school diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate). College degree preferred.
• Some experience in brewing, distilling or other fermentation-related work preferred.
• Candidates need to be able to lift up to 55 pounds, be able to twist and turn, be able to reach over your shoulders, and work in standing/walking/ crouching position at a steady pace and love to clean.
• Able to stand for long periods of time (up to 8-10 hours per day).
• Must be in good physical condition and able to maneuver in confined spaces specifically, in wet, tight or cramped spaces.
• Working in a production facility and environment, including:
• Performing job with and around moving machinery.
• Exposure to hot fluids, live steam, pressurized transfer lines, particulate atmospheres, extreme variable temperature levels, and carbon dioxide.
• Wet, slippery floors.
• Availability to work days, nights and weekends if necessary
• Passion for distilling and a commitment towards the production of a consistent and quality product.
