We are hiring an experienced head brewer for our start up brewery. StrongHouse Brewery is located in a historic mining building in the town of Telluride, Colorado. This person will be our first employee outside of ownership. He/she will be responsible for all aspects of beer production, including day to day operations of the brewery/brewpub, the development of new beer styles, managing personnel, purchasing decisions and vendor supplies selection. The head brewer will have a major role with choosing equipment at this stage in our development.
Qualifications
* Degree in brewing/fermentation science or equivalent required
* Minimum of 4 years experience as a brewer
* Proven ability in recipe development, documentation and execution
* Thorough knowledge of local regulatory requirements, including federal TTB regulatory and tax calculation requirements
* Comprehensive knowledge of financial reporting and capital budgeting
* Experience with equipment selection for a 5bbl system and vendor supply selection for a small brewery operation
* Proficient computer skills, including point of sales systems and inventory tracking
* Strong leadership skills
* Management experience required
* Excellent communication skills
* Ability to work in both a brewery and brewpub environment
Responsibilities
•. Beer recipe development, documentation and implementation
•. Selection of raw materials used during the brewing process
•. Manage the day to day brewery operation
•. Manage brewery/brewpub personnel
•. Develop and maintain quality assurance processes and programs
•. Maintain brewery safety standards in accordance with OSHA and food handling regulations
•. Develop and implement brewery Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
•. Record retention and documentation in accordance with federal TTP taxation and local liquor ordinances
•. Participate in festivals, promotional events and lead sensory classes
•. Canning and kegging of product
•. Other duties as assigned
