    Packaging Manager


    Lofotpils Bryggeri is searching for a "on the spot problem solver", with high drive and technical/mechanical aptitude to be our Packaging Manager. The right candidate is going to lead and inspire our packaging team and oversee all our packaging operations; to make sure its done safe and efficient.

    Lofotpils is a independent, family controlled brewery and is also one of the fastest growing breweries in the Norwegian market. We are located in the beautiful Lofoten archipelagos main city of Svolvær. The surrounding nature offers a ton of activities ranging from artic surfing at some of the most stunning beaches, hiking, fishing, hunting and mountain climbing. We brew a wide range of craft beers on our German built state of the art brewhouse; and are canning, bottling and kegging on our automated EU built packaging line.

    The packaging manager will be responsible for leading and training the team of packaging operators and maintaining and executing the packaging operations. the role is also expected to plan and coordinate preventive maintenance, and be able to solve day to day challenges and have the skillset to diagnose and troubleshoot technical problems. The position requires an analytical methodology to solve current and future challenges to create sound, efficient and scalable systems to meet our quality parameters today and in the future. The position plays a key part of our daily production and is expected to cooperate in our effort to constant improve our processes, maximizing our efficiency, and to continue to build our culture of quality, safety, that translates to a good working environment. The ideal candidate wants to grow with the brewery trough clear communication, creative problem solving, collaboration with the management and the other departments and be a guiding star for the rest of the packaging team.



    Reports to Brewmaster and CEO
    Oversees: Packaging Operators (3-4 people and expanding)


    Primary Responsibilities

    Supervise and partake in daily packaging operations to ensure efficient, quality minded, timely and safe execution of operations
    Actively train employees on factory safety and packaging equipment operation.
    Plan, prepare and follow up on work schedules.
    Coordinate, plan and purchase with the other departments to ensure on-time arrival of all required packaging materials.
    Develop scalable systems that ensure high quality in packaged product.
    Accurately update ERP and inventory tracking software and spreadsheets on a daily basis, generate reports and forward to other deps.
    Develop and continuously refine SOPs for all daily packaging tasks.
    Manage and execute packaging equipment preventative maintenance schedules.
    Lead daily morning meetings and proactively communicate production schedules and other brewery information.
    Monitor employee performance and actively mentor employees in order to help them achieve their personal and professional goals.
    Promote and enforce high standards of cleanliness and organization.


    Skills

    Knowledge of Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets/dropbox.
    Ability to inspire and motivate a diverse but primarily young workforce.
    Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
    Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks and handle multiple projects.
    Strong attention to detail.
    Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve.
    Highly motivated and work well both independently and in a team environment.
    Self-directed, organized and able to meet deadlines.


    Requirements

    2+ years experience in a 5000 BBL+ brewery production facility or fast-paced manufacturing environment.
    Brewing industry experience is preferred but will also consider candidates with experience in CPG, dairy, wine, food, or other related fields.
    Working knowledge of conveyance systems, depalletizers, can fillers and seamers, and cartoners.
    Strong mechanical aptitude - understanding of motors, pneumatic systems, low-voltage wiring, PLCs, gas and fluid dynamics.
    Experience with continuous improvement and lean manufacturing methodologies (5S, kaizen, Six Sigma, e.g.).


    Physical Requirements

    Ability to stand for at least eight hours, five days per week
    Reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, walk, push and pull items weighing up to 70 pounds.
    Some days may be physically strenuous
    Hours of operation are flexible to department needs, including some evenings(Most operations is mon - fri)
    Auditory and visual skills
    Ability to follow and give written and oral instructions and procedures.
