Caboose Brewing Company is growing! We've recently opened a 2nd location, are increasing production, and will start packaging in the near future. We currently have an opening for a Head Brewer and/or an experienced Brewer to join our team.
Our main brewhouse is located in Vienna, VA and the new 2nd location is a 6,000 sq ft beer garden located in Fairfax, VA. The brewhouse is a 15bbl Premier Stainless system.
The brewery was started in October 2013 and opened in May 2015 by two local families, the McLaughlins and the Greers. The name "Caboose" is a nod to the W&OD railroad line, which has since been re-purposed as the premier bike and trail path in the area. The trail runs along the back of our building. We are proud to be in a group of stellar breweries accessible from the W&OD trail W&OD Bikeable Brews.
The right person will have a passion for great beer of all kinds and will not be afraid to try something new. This is a full time position with a competitive salary and health benefits.
A formal brewing education is preferred.
Our ideal brewer will:
• Understand the fundamentals of running a brewery, supporting the brewpub(s), and managing distributors
• Able to perform physical labor required for the position
• Able to work independently as well as manage the brewery team
• Have a flexible work schedule
• Have great communication skills
• Embrace technology
• Eager to collaborate and partner with owners regarding the product and brand growth
• Enjoy what you're doing! You are the man/woman behind the beer.
• Have a passion for the design and delivery of a quality product
• Have a minimum of 2 years brewing experience, preferably on a 15BBL + system
• Have a thorough understanding of chemical and biological processes as it relates to beer making
• Have a thorough understanding of the QA/QC process
• Be willing to perform all tasks involved in the packaging process, including washing and filling kegs.
• Be familiar with the acquisition of all raw materials and the packaging of the final product
• Live in the DC metro area (we will not be relocating for this position)
• Have the appropriate documentation to work in the United States
