    About Bayern Brewing Inc.

    Bayern Brewing was founded in 1987 and is steeped in the rich tradition of Bavaria, a region renowned for producing the world’s most famous and sophisticated beer. We brew our lager beers in strict accordance to the German Law of Purity (Reinheitsgebot) of 1516. Bayern employs state-of-the-art equipment to produce quality standards unsurpassed in the micro brewing industry.
    The brewery is located in the university town of Missoula, MT. Nestled in the Rocky Mountains of western Montana, the vibrant community offers plenty of recreational opportunities, a quality public school system and provides a variety of medical services.

    About the Packaging Line Operator Position
    The Packaging Line Operator ensures that the quality and quantity of Bayern Brewing products meets our highest standards as defined by Standard Operating Procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices. Monday thru Friday schedule with weekends off! Duties include but are not limited to: operating various pieces of production equipment such as bottle washer, filler, labeler, case packer, safely loading, unloading and storing raw materials and finished product, maintaining and performing many machine adjustments tasks in a day, using math skills, counting and stocking inventory, complying with all procedural expectations and safety standards, cleaning work areas, and operating a forklift. Position will report directly to plant supervisor.

    Requirements for the Position
    Requirements include but are not limited to:
    • Ability to consistently lift 50 lbs. and stand, bend, twist, and stoop during entire shift
    • A high school diploma or equivalent and previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
    • Basic math skills with the ability to convert fractions and decimals
    • Attention to detail
    • Ability to concentrate while doing repetitive hand motions including gripping, grasping, pushing, pulling
    • Ability to read customer paperwork and understand instructions; self motivation to ask clarifying questions
    • Mechanical as well as machine maintenance experience beneficial
    • Ability to work with others to achieve team goals and willingness to rotate into various areas of shop as needed
    • Forklift experience preferred but will train
    • General computer skills are necessary
    • Genuine enthusiasm for craft beer
    • Proper use of PPE
    • Ability to safely handle hazardous chemicals in accordance with strict safety protocols
    • Eagerness to be part of a growing team with safety, accountability, professionalism, and teamwork to achieve common goals
    • Solid mechanical aptitude
    • Open to learning and taking on additional duties as require
    • Ability to take direction well, follow verbal and written Standard Operating Procedures, Policies and other work instructions
    • Ability to meet work deadlines in a multi-faceted manner and looks forward to working in a growth-driven work environment
    • Consistent reliability, flexibility and attendance to perform the job duties

    RESPONSIBILITIES
    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    • Operate all equipment on keging, bottling, and canning lines
    • Startup and shutdown of utilities and equipment
    • CIP and sanitizing of filler and occasional bright beer tanks
    • Competent operation of keg washer, bottle washer, filler, labeler and case packer in compliance with SOP and GMP
    • May involve working with finished beer in an aseptic manner
    • Maintain line efficiency through seamless supply of empty packaging and removal of full packaging
    • Close monitoring of cooperage quality and removing cooperage in need of repair
    • Ensure accurate and legible coding and labeling of all containers
    • Routine daily maintenance of all equipment

    • Use good communication and escalation of repeat issues to the production manager in a timely manner for maintenance assistance
    • Package finished beer into kegs
    • Record and verify all required data
    • Submit daily logs for operations control in timely manner
    • Counting and stocking materials
    • Ensure a clean, sanitary, and “showcase brewery” work environment by keeping areas clean and organized at all times
    • Safely handle chemicals and other hazardous materials (broken glass)
    • Operate forklift
    • Cross-training on various production support roles as needed
