Long story short, I've been using gelatin with great results. However, my supplier has stopped carrying it. Tried another supplier and they sent me powdered SiO2 (stabifix) by mistake. Any recommendations on dosing rates to get me started? I don't filter, and I'd be adding to my unitanks just prior to carbing. Is this doable?

This acts in a completely different wat to gelatin or isinglass finings. It adsorbs specific protein particle sizes and drags them to the bottom of the tank along with the silica gel. It will not drag down yeast and visible haze in the same way as gelatin of isinglass. Used in conjunction with isinglass or gelatin (mixed or purchased mixed before addition) it will form compact bottoms and improve the physical (haze) stability of beer. Typical dosage rates for haze stabilisation - start around 40 gm / litre
So if you want to drop out yeast and visible haze for cask beer type sales, you need to find a supplier of gelatin or isinglass.dick
