    Head Brewer - Ex Novo - New Mexico

    Ex Novo is seeking to fill the position of Head Brewer for its new location in Corrales, New Mexico. We've designed a slick brewery in a new building on 3 acres just outside Albuquerque, and construction is underway. The Head Brewer will report directly to our Director of Operations as well as the President and Founder of Ex Novo. This is a full-time position, and as the build-out for the new production brewery develops the Head Brewer will wear many hats, including:
    • Help with the rigging and installation of new brewing vessels, brew house and cellar tanks.
    • Work with contractors on installation of glycol lines and cooing plant
    • Work with contractors on the installation of a steam boiler and hard lines for steam flow.
    • Work with contractors on electrical demands, for all brewing, cellar, packaging and warehouse systems.
    • Work with contractors on the installation and build out of a cold room.
    • Help with the installation of a grain silo, mill, and grain delivery systems to brew house(s)
    • Passivation of all Brewing and Cellar Vessels
    • Help with installation of canning line and develop proficiency in its operation
    • Raw Material Ordering and handling
    • Packaging material organization and ordering
    • Digital tracking of raw materials
    • Digital tracking of all packaged beer
    • Organization of brewing and cellar schedules
    • Assist in development of SOPĂ‚’s for brewing and cellar work
    • Hiring of production employees
    • Help develop basic laboratory and oversee its use and operation
    • Assist in recipe formulation and development
    • Review and monitor efficiencies
    • Review and refine processes
    • Manage a team of brewers, cellar, packaging, and warehouse employees
    • Management of yeast schedule
    • Assist in scaling existing recipes
    • Hands-on hard working attitude, proficient at brewing on a manual 5 bbl. and semi-automated 20 bbl. brew house
    • Installation and operation of a keg washer

    The ideal candidate will have:
    • A minimum of 5+ years of professional brewing and cellaring experience
    • Formal education in fermentation science is preferred
    • A strong mind for process control and efficiency
    • Management experience in a brewery setting, in addition to building a fun, productive company culture.
    • Basic brewery lab experience: yeast cell counting proficiency, off-flavor training and education, plating and incubation, yeast propagation, etc.
    • Safety minded, experience working safely with hazardous chemicals
    • Forklift operation experience
    • Proficiency in CIP and Sanitization of all brewing and cellar vessels
    • Experience in barrel aging, blending, and barrel handling, cleaning etc.
    • Maintain detailed logs, including brewing, cellar, and packaging records
    • Ability to repeatedly lift heavy objects up to 100 lbs., items such as kegs, grain bags, hops, etc.
    • Knowledge of draft beverage systems, including installation of draft and CO2 lines, and maintenance/cleaning of draft system
    • Experience in inventory management
    • Proficiency in computer software systems, Microsoft Excel, Word, etc.
    • Willingness to travel for work as needed
    • Willingness to professionally represent the brewery at various events

    Salary is DOE but will be $50,000+, and we'll be folding in Health Insurance and 401k benefits as well
