    Quality Technician I

    Fort Point Beer Company is looking for detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to execute daily quality tests at our brewery. This is an entry-level Quality role in a new department with future opportunities for growth and specialization. Fort Point is an independent San Francisco brewery made up of people who believe the simple things in life can be a whole lot better. This role is vital to fulfilling our commitment to making the highest quality beer.

    This position will be responsible for performing daily assays of in-progress and finished beer, at the direction of the Laboratory Manager. Success in this role means taking an organized and analytical approach to all work. This position plays an active role in daily production operations and must be able to record information accurately and manage their time efficiently. A strong knack for creative collaboration, clear communication, and a constant desire to teach, learn, and solve problems is key to success in this position.

    Primary Duties:

    Collect daily samples from fermentation and brite tanks in a sanitary manner.
    Measure specific gravity, pH, dissolved oxygen, dissolved CO2, cell viability and other metrics as required.
    Perform routine chemical and microbiological testing on brewery equipment and utilities.
    Track and update QCP checkpoints as necessary.
    Assist with daily sensory panels.
    Perform and record all necessary equipment calibration and maintenance.
    Accurately record and organize laboratory data.
    Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment.


    Skills:

    Strong knowledge of basic laboratory techniques.
    Moderate experience in Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets.
    Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
    Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
    Impeccable attention to detail.


    Knowledge/Experience/Education:

    1+ years working in a manufacturing or commercial laboratory.
    Bachelor’s degree in related field required - Chemistry, Biochemistry, Brewing Science, or Food Science preferred.
    Brewing industry experience is preferred but will also consider candidates with experience in CPG, wine, food, or other related fields.

    Physical Requirements:

    Ability to sit or stand and work with hands and arms for at least eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week
    Ability to safely lift at least 50 lbs
