    Co-Manufacturing & Co-Packing Facility Seeking Qualified Canning Line Operator


    The mission of Craftpack Beverage (CPB) is to be the conduit for producers, brand owners, and entrepreneurs looking to share their beverage product with the world. We bring the capabilities of large co-man/co-pack facilities to low minimum order quantity thresholds, for start-up and scaling beverages or market testing opportunities. Strategically located in Baltimore, MD, we are able to package finished goods into a variety of can and bottle sizes and unit configurations, as well as kegs. In addition to non-alcoholic beverages such as cold brewed coffee, teas, soda, we are able to handle malt-base, spirits and wine for processing and packaging, as well as provide cold chain storage, cold sterilization, and thermal treatment for shelf-stable product.

    The Job

    CPB is seeking an experienced, professional Lead Canning Line Operator for our beverage production operation. Relocation expenses covered for the right candidate. You must be a dependable self-starter who takes pride in your work and goes the extra mile to do the job right. We are looking for hardworking, honest people who set their standards high and are passionate about packaging quality beverages. This position works with other Craftpack team members at least 40 hours per week.

    The Lead Canning Line Operator serves as the packaging manager, taking lead on both operation of our equipment and communication with your team. You will work hand in hand with Craftpack team members to improve process and product to achieve package-ready product. You must be able to work safely in a fast paced, production environment while being a critical link in building strong, lasting relationships with our clients.

    Responsibilities
    • Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE
    • Operating packaging line and auxiliary equipment (Wild Goose 250 canning line, depalletizer, date coder, filtec, etc.)
    • Ensuring product is packaged correctly within strict tolerances
    • Oversee and contribute to correct packaging and palletizing of product according to production specifications
    • Troubleshooting mechanical problems that arise during packaging runs
    • Extensive pre-and post-job equipment cleaning and sanitizing
    • Detailed record keeping including Maintenance Logs, Production Packaging Logs and QC/QA processes, as well as any additional efficiency activities
    • Managing inventory of finished product, including preparation for pasteurization, cartoning, bundling and preparation for freight
    • Equipment/machinery maintenance
    • Contribute to production schedule meetings
    • Maintaining a clean and organized packaging and storage area
    • Working with other team members to maintain packaging supply inventory
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Education
    • HS Diploma or GED
    • Technical/professional training in mechanical and/or electrical fields *PREFERRED*

    Experience
    • Prior experience operating a Wild Goose Canning line or similar filler
    • Experience operating on any rotary counter-pressure packaging lines would be preferred for future growth *PREFERRED*
    • Previous beverage production or packaging experience
    • Work experience in skilled trades
    • Forklift operating experience
    • Experience training and/or managing packaging crews preferred

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Working knowledge of any of the following principals and applications: electrical, pneumatic, hydraulics, mechanics and HMIs *PREFERRED*
    • Willingness to take part in cross-training to grow into new roles as opportunities present
    • Mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot and repair equipment on-site
    • Attentiveness, quick reaction and decision-making skills
    • Excellent people skills – we are client driven and results oriented - you should be too!
    • Great verbal and written communication skills
    • Knowledge of beverage production and carbonation principles
    • Leadership skills and abilities
    • Valid driver's license, with clean driving record

    Working Conditions
    • Ability to work long and varied hours
    • Ability to multitask and work professionally with other team members
    • Able to lift over 50 pounds and stand throughout your shift
    • Willingness to work on/around potentially dangerous equipment
    • Willingness to work in an environment with elevated noise levels while utilizing appropriate PPE
