    The Packaging Manager is responsible for managing and training a team of Packaging Technicians and Operators. They are responsible for the timely execution of scheduled keg, can & bottle packaging. The Packaging Manager is also responsible for coordinating packaging equipment maintenance and daily troubleshooting as needed. Success in this role means taking an organized and analytical approach to problem-solving while creating efficient and scalable systems. This position plays an active role in daily production operations and is also expected to contribute their expertise to improving production processes, maximizing efficiencies, and promoting a culture of quality and safety. A strong knack for creative collaboration, clear communication, and a constant desire to teach, learn, and solve problems is key. The packaging manager reports to the Director of Brewing Operations.

    Responsibilities and Duties

    -Directly supervise daily packaging operations to ensure safety of employees and quality of products.
    -Actively train employees on brewery safety and packaging equipment operation.
    -Plan, prepare and monitor work schedules, including meal and rest breaks.
    -Coordinate with Logistics Department to ensure the accurate and on-time arrival of all required packaging materials.
    -Develop scalable systems that ensure accurate finished good and raw material inventory.
    -Accurately update ekos (Mikkeller’s brewery management software) and inventory tracking software on a daily basis.
    -Develop and continuously refine SOPs for all daily packaging tasks.
    -Maintain paperwork and record all data completely and properly, including packaging date, DO, number of bottles/kegs packaged, CO2, etc
    -Understand production systems, help diagnose sources of machine failure, collaborate with maintenance and engineering staff to make necessary equipment repairs.
    -Manage and execute packaging equipment preventative maintenance schedules.
    -Prepare and sign-off on beer for packaging including CO2 monitoring, carbonation checks, clarity and tasting
    -Lead daily standup meetings and proactively communicate production schedules and other brewery information.
    -Monitor employee performance and actively mentor employees in order to help them achieve their personal and professional goals.
    -Promote and enforce high standards of cleanliness and organization.

    Qualifications and Skills


    -Experience operating CODI & Pack Leader equipment a plus
    -Required 3 years of professional brewery packaging experience with prior supervisory experience
    -Brewer Certification preferred
    -Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets 7 General data entry
    -Ability to inspire and motivate a diverse workforce.
    -Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
    -Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks and handle multiple projects.
    -Impeccable attention to detail.
    -Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve.
    -Highly motivated and work well both independently and in a team environment.
    -Self-directed, organized and able to meet deadlines.
    -Must be able to read/comprehend written and oral instructions in English; read and comprehend safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and product recipes/material identifications
    -Must have mathematical skill to add, subtract, multiply and divide and the ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance
    -Must have the ability to reason and address problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
    -Must have manual dexterity sufficient to operate a wide variety of small hand tools and computer equipment
    -Excellent record keeping, attention to detail and communication skills.
    -Enthusiasm and strong personal knowledge of the microbrewery industry and market
    -Ability to work well with superiors and co-workers in a production and office/warehouse environment
    -Ability to change tasks quickly and still maintain attention to detail
