Ironmonger Brewing is looking to hire a new brewer/cellar/packaging/all-around production person. We're under new ownership, have a new head brewer, taking the brewery in a new direction and need someone to round out our production team!

We're looking for someone who wants a role that will ask them to jump into all departments of production, maybe a seasoned cellarman who wants their chance on the brew deck. Or maybe a brewer who is itching to learn how to run a canning line. As a small brewery, everyone is expected to work (with proper training) in every area of production, from grain to keg/can, nobody on the team is Charlie passing inspections alone despite the gang's best efforts to thwart it all. We bust our asses, but we do it together. However, if your true calling is running our two Cask 5 head fillers (one for 12oz, one for 16oz), bless your soul, you get all the shifts! If you hate canning, that sucks, but it sucks for all of us together! It's currently a team of 3 we're small and busy but we get it done. This is a low-key environment but with unlimited opportunities for growth and development while maintaining very high standards, so, please, no Stanley's doing crosswords, unless it's pretzel day, then we're all Stanley. You'll be expected to be on time, make good beer, and never stop learning. Bonus if you have a mind for good beer names, you like It's Always Sunny, Dr Who, The Office, Great British Baking Show, and tacos.

    Responsibilities will include:
    • Brewing
    • Cellar work: CIPs, centrifuging, dry hopping, yeast management, etc...
    • Basic lab work: daily gravities, DOs, cell counts, sensory evaluations, etc...
    • Packaging: kegging and canning
    • Performing all aspects of the job safely and in a timely manner
    • Basic brewer maintenance
    • Barrel work, we have a small but growing clean and bugged barrel program

    Requirements:
    • 1+ years professional brewing experience
    • Critical thinking (is that the right tri-clamp? is there pressure behind that valve?)
    • Creative thinking (just figure it out!)
    • In-depth knowledge of brewing, cellaring, and, ideally, canning
    • Ability to repeatedly lift 55 lbs. and move 165 lbs
    • A flexible schedule M-F, ability to work first or second shift in the coming months
    • Ability to work in a fast paced, non-temperature controlled brewery environment while focused on quality and precision
    • Ability to work independently and within a team
    • Ability to communicate with the team re: daily tasks, needs, etc...
    • Self-awareness and the ability to communicate when you need a day off before your body falls apart

    Perks/Benefits
    • Competitive pay with bonus potential
    • PTO
    • Bottle share Fridays
    • Weekends will always be yours unless there's an extreme brewing emergency or you really want to work that one beer fest
    • Dog friendly (as long as your dog is friendly)
    • Team outings
    • Free beer
    • We're working on getting company health insurance

To apply, please send resume and a little bit about yourself (formal cover letter not necessary) to sarah@ironmongerbrewing.com. Note that we are in a huge transition right now, so if you do any googling, where we currently are and where we are headed has not yet been reflected in our website/social media. Part of the transition is bringing on quality people in the back of house!
