Head Brewer & Production Manager -- Wolverine State Brewing Co.

The Wolverine State Brewing Company is seeking a seasoned and talented production brewer to take over the lead role in our brewery as Head Brewer & Production Manager.

Company Overview: Wolverine State Brewing is a multiple GABF and World Beer Cup award winning brewery specializing in the production of both traditional and experimental lagers. Half of our annual production (currently ~2,800 bbls) goes out to wholesale distributors, with the other half being served on-site to our enthusiastic guests in our always crowded Tap Room. We seek to create a one-of-a-kind customer experience both in-house and in the market by producing unique, exciting lager beers with an unrelenting focus on quality and consistency. Our team is passionate about our products and our customers, and works well together in a fun, supportive, and fast-paced environment.

Position Overview: After 8 fantastic years building our brewery from the ground up, our talented Head Brewer & Production Manager is taking his leave in January to move up north to vacation country (insert wistful sigh here). We are looking for an experienced production brewer who has the expertise and leadership to build on our award-winning past, plus the passion and creativity to help chart the course for our future. The Head Brewer & Production Manager leads a staff of 5 experienced brewers and cellarmen/women, and is responsible for all production processes. This is a hands-on leadership position, where rolling up your sleeves and staying close to the beer is just as important as planning, scheduling, and reporting. The Head Brewer & Production Manager has bottom line responsibility for the quality and craftsmanship of everything we do, and is a key player in developing and instilling the vision of our company. Along with the Tap Room Manager and Kitchen Manager, the Head Brewer & Production Manager is a member of the leadership team and reports directly to the President & CEO (who is also a member of the brewery production staff).

    • Formal or on-the-job training in quality control and lab procedures
    • On-the-job experience running, maintaining and repairing glycol systems, boilers & steam-fed brew systems, and automated packaging lines
    • Knowledge of and experience with safety and health compliance requirements
