Job Summary: The Assistant Brewer/Cellarman is responsible for gravity readings, transfers, CIP, canning, kegging, documentation, as well as general upkeep of brewery. This job requires a high-energy individual comfortable with multi-tasking, with strong attention to detail and a focus on workplace safety at all times. This position will also receive training in wort production from milling to yeast pitching as well as helping to develop recipes and brew on our half barrel pilot system as time permits.
Ideal Candidate:
At least 1 year of experience in a professional brewery preferred.
Experience with a canning line and related packaging machinery a plus.
Dedication to producing outstanding and consistent beer, strong work ethic, positive attitude, and attention to detail.
Basic homebrewing and/or commercial brewing experience a plus.
Desire to develop professionally in craft brewing
Job Responsibilities:
Daily beer management: transfers, carbonation, canning, kegging, CIP, documentation
Daily QA reads: gravity, carbonation, tank temperature and pressure
Crash tanks, dump yeast and trub as needed
Dry hopping, processing fruit, fruiting fermenters
Prepare fermenters, brites, hoses for transfers and perform transfers as needed
CIP, cleaning and basic equipment maintenance as needed
Assist with maintenance and overall cleanliness of entire brewery and cellar including tank exteriors, floors, and drains
Maintain accurate written and electronic records: transfer volume, material loss, packaging
Maintain accurate shipping and receiving records
Stack cans and kegs using forklift
Prepare shipments, load, and unload distributor trucks
Keep a clean, safe work environment
Job Qualifications:
1+ year(s) experience in professional brewery preferred
Knowledge of cellaring and brewing process
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Maintain high quality work standards without direct supervision
Ability to understand and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
Adapt to changes in brewing, packaging, and production schedules, and shift hours
Positive attitude and strong work ethic
Strict attention to detail and quality
Physical Requirements:
Ability to bend, kneel, and stand for long periods of time
Safely lift, move, and carry up to 70 pounds repeatedly
Work on a ladder periodically up to height of 18 feet
Operate forklift and other machinery as needed (we can train)
Ability to safely handle and use cleaning chemicals
Ability to work in cold and hot temperatures
