    Position Summary:

    The Quality Assurance (QA) Technician conducts daily quality analyses to provide information and assist with product and process quality decisions. This position may have full ownership of their assigned area or they may operate under guidance and direction of more experienced personnel. This position requires quality and analytical knowledge and skills and assists in anticipating and planning for quality needs. The expectation in this role is to assist in quality improvement. Must be able to work in a fast-paced production environment, be quality conscious, operate safely, and have good communication skills. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to be involved in a fast-growing, quality-focused brewing company with an aggressive expansion plan.     About Us:

    Uinta Brewing Company embarked upon its mission of brewing world class, full-flavored, craft-brewed beer in 1993. Uinta is named after the only major east-west running mountain range located in the continental U.S. Since 1993, Uinta Brewing has created world class, full-flavored, craft-brewed beer ranging from 4.0% to over 13% alcohol by volume. The Uinta team comprised of outdoor and beer enthusiasts, brews a variety of beer organized in to two distinct lines; the Classic Line and the Crooked Line.

    Essential functions:
    • Collect product/process samples and conduct appropriate analysis per SOPs/instructions
    • Document results of analysis in appropriate form of analysis to key decision makers
    • Take appropriate action following decision trees and/or out of specification action plans to validate results especially when analysis indicates product/process out of specification
    • Provide feedback to process/method owner for improvement of process/method
    • May generate and/or revise documentation to support processes or methods, as assigned
    • Operate and maintain all appropriate equipment and workspace for assigned responsibilities
    • Support experiments/projects as assigned
    • Actively participate as Quality Department team member (including attending Quality staff meetings)
    • Support Quality Department activities and objectives
    • Participate in industry collaborative and external comparisons to validate test methods
    • Drive new ideas for quality improvement and drive implementation.
    • Completion of daily fermentation labs and packaged product analysis – OE, AE, ABV, pH, IBU, SRM
    • Daily production line checks including seam analysis
    • Autoclave operation
    • Aseptic sample collection
    • ATP testing
    • Yeast viability counts
    • VDK analysis with GC
    • Preparation of all lab media and plating of samples, including membrane filtration
    • Operation of Invisible Sentinel PCR programs
    • Manage production sample library
    • Assist in facilitating daily sensory panel including collecting data and preparation of samples
    • Data entry
    • Be an ambassador for quality and for Uinta’s beers



    Qualifications:
    • Candidates must be 21 years of age or older.
    • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree (BS/BA) in a scientific field from a four-year college or university or the equivalent in special training and work related experience.
    • Appropriate working knowledge of chemistry, microbiology, and physics
    • Knowledge or skills in microbiology, sensory, or process waste treatment are desirable but not essential.
    • Strong interpersonal and team member skills
    • Highly motivated individual able to plan and manage personal work and schedule
    • Good communication, documentation and writing skills. Attention to detail
    • Solid personal computer skills (e.g., Word, Excel)
    • Demonstrate a strong work ethic.
    • Effectively give and receive feedback. Offer new ideas and lead initiatives to implement them.
    • Ability to multi-task while being quality- and detail-focused.
    • Adaptable to changing priorities, and ability to work well under pressure.
    • Ability to work both independently and in small work teams.
    • Exercise initiative and judgment as well as make decisions with the scope of assigned authority.
    • Demonstrated ability and desire to obtain additional skills and knowledge in area of expertise (e.g., continued education, special training, certification)

    Physical/Environmental Requirements:

    Able to stand for the length of work shift, up to eight hours
    Able to work in conditions typical of a manufacturing environment (cool, warm, or hot, humid or wet, etc.), and moderate to loud environments.
    Able to frequently push, pull, lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally push, pull, lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.
