    OVERVIEW:

    The Controller is responsible for developing and executing Accounting policies and best practices at Fort Point Beer Company to allow us to meet our financial goals. This means ensuring policies are followed for all purchasing, collections, and vendor contracts. The Controller's goal is to keep the company's books up-to-date and accurate as close to real time as possible for quick decision making, period-end closing, and financial reporting.

    The Controller must be efficient, extremely detail oriented and have a solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The Controller will need input from a variety of employees and must be an effective collaborator.


    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Develop, manage, and enforce purchasing policies including approval routing and limits
    • Audit AR and AP invoice processing
    • Ensure timely, consistent communication with vendors to resolve account discrepancies, billing adjustments, apply credits and resolve payment issues
    • Communicate with management on delinquent customers and develop, manage, and enforce collections procedures
    • Audit bank reconciliations for accuracy
    • Assist with the preparation of government/tax filings
    • Develop, manage, and enforce GAAP compliant procedures
    • Manage payroll budgeting and audit payroll for accuracy
    • Prepare financial reports as needed



    EXPERIENCE:
    • 5+ years computerized accounting experience with a thorough understanding of GAAP
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
    • Netsuite, or other similar ERP usage
    • Experience reviewing financial documents for accuracy and completeness
    • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
    • Proactive, self-directing and project oriented
