Assistant Brewer at an Award-Winning Brewery/Winery in Northern Virginia
An award-winning brewery and winery in Northern Virginia is looking for an Assistant Brewer to work closely with our Head Brewer in all aspects of beer production, with opportunities for advancement. The ideal candidate will have some commercial brewing experience, extensive homebrewing experience, brewing certifications/education, and/or some combination of the above. Qualities of the Assistant Brewer include strict attention to detail, strong record keeping, ability to maintain a sanitary environment, and overall positive attitude.
Responsibilities will include:
Wort production - not limited to milling grain, mashing, boiling, gravity reading, brewhouse cleaning
Cellar work – not limited to cleaning kegs, cleaning and sanitizing tanks utilizing a CIP and SIP method, beer transfers, dry-hopping, carbonation, packaging, fermentation monitoring, yeast handling, gravity readings, etc.
Misc. – draft line cleaning, attending festivals, staff training
This position requires lifting 55lb bags repeatedly, moving 165lb kegs, standing for long periods of time, bending, squatting, crouching, and everything in between, while working in hot and cold conditions.
