POSITION SUMMARY: As a key member of the Production team, the Production Manager will lead all aspects of the day-to-day operation at Parallel 49 Brewing’s production brewery in Vancouver, BC. Responsibilities include ensuring a safe work environment, interviewing and hiring new Production staff, working closely with HR, facilitating communication, upholding Parallel 49’s quality standards, optimizing current processes and helping prepare for future growth.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leads all day-to-day activities necessary to produce high-quality beer.
Promotes an atmosphere of cooperation and teamwork within the department and the company.
Conducts annual performance reviews with all direct reports.
Coordinates with management to effect disciplinary measures when necessary.
Effectively represent Beer Production in weekly cross-department meetings regarding Safety, HR, Quality and Production.
Advocates a continuous improvement culture throughout their team.
Assists in the development and updating of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as necessary.
Holds self and brewers accountable for adhering to SOPs and maintaining a sanitary and micro-biologically stable work environment.
Conducts critical assessments of beers through active participation in raw material and beer sensory panels.
Facilitates future growth of the brewery through continuous optimization of current processes.
Assists in implementation of new equipment and processes.
Works with senior management on new product development initiatives.
Maintain brewing, cellaring, filtration, packaging and other related documentation in an organized and complete manner.
Provide hands-on relief of all positions as necessary.
Follow, facilitate, and update the work schedule as needed and maintained by Self or Head Brewer.
Provide leadership in decision-making situations as needed.
Display a practical understanding of finished product distribution and product rotation/handling.
Maintain healthy communication with other departments (QA/QC, Tasting Room, and Production).
Ensure that the company brewery management software is used and updated correctly and in a timely manner.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS:
Previous leadership or management experience.
Outstanding communication and problem-solving skills.
Completion of a formally recognized Brewing Program strongly preferred
Degree in an associated field such as Food Science, Engineering, or Biological Sciences Preferred
Minimum 3-years experience in a production brewery.
Minimum 1- years experience in a management role in a brewery.
Practical knowledge of SOP development and maintenance, safe operating practices and industry accepted quality standards.
Enterprise resource planning (ERP) and inventory management software experience.
Focused troubleshooting skills in a brewing/manufacturing setting.
Forklift Experience required.
