POSITION OVERVIEW
The Warehouse Shift Lead is responsible for coordinating the activities of employees during a given shift along with making decisions regarding the movement of pallets or materials to maximize efficiencies and overall productivity of the shift. The ideal candidate will ensure warehouse tasks and activities are carried out following company health and safety procedures and compliance standards.
POSITION DUTIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
-Establishing operational procedures for verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials and tracking warehouse inventory
-Ensuring logs are filled out accurately each time a lift is signed out
-Loading and unloading materials from trailers
-Moving pallets or materials on pallets/crates around the facility
-Stacking pallets or materials in the correct manner and following inventory control instructions
-Checking to ensure loads are secure
-Building pallets when necessary
-Communicating expectations and goals to team members daily to meet goals and efficiencies set by Harpoon’s Distribution Manager
-Ability to coach, train, provide feedback and discipline shift team members when necessary
Efficient and Accurate Product Handling:
-Maintaining reasonable inventory levels by transferring or putting pallets away on racks to keep the work flow running smoothly
-Overseeing workflow management; checking planned loads and production schedule, verifying with the manifest lists
-Ensuring all pallets are properly tagged and wrapped prior to storage or being shipped
-Responsible for all sign outs and transfers
-Keeping warehouse stocked, ensuring minimal damage and avoiding mixing of product dates
Safety:
-Maintaining and managing an orderly and safe work environment
-Monitoring and scheduling maintenance of all warehouse equipment
-Control of load and constant awareness of surrounding staff and environment
-Ensuring safety procedures are followed by individuals in the warehouse
-Safe and efficient handling of lifts and other material-handling equipment as trained
REQUIREMENTS/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
-3-5 years of related experience, preferably in a distribution environment
-Proper use of PPE
-OSHA approved Forklift Certification
-Ability to obtain and maintain a Massachusetts Hoisting License
-Advanced understanding of product rotation and perishable product management
-Advanced math and computer skills
-Excellent safety record
-Familiarity with maintenance and safety procedures for warehouse equipment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
-Ability to stand and/or be on the move 8 hours a day
-Ability to work in a fast-paced working environment for distribution pulling, cutting, packing and shipping orders; must be able to meet required daily goals
-Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed during the course of a normal work day
