Carakale Brewing Company is located in Fuheis, Jordan, on the outskirts of Amman. We are Jordan's first and only microbrewery. Our Head Brewer is moving out of Jordan and we are seeking an experienced brewer to take his place. We seek someone with a strong knowledge of the science of brewing and fermentation and a passion for great beer. The ideal candidate has professional brewing experience, including DE filtration, brewhouse operations, lab work, and good overall knowledge of the worldwide craft beer scene. Related formal education is preferable.
Position is mostly day shift work Sunday-Thursday, but may occasionally require late night, weekend, and holiday work. This position entails strenuous physical work, including lifting 25kg bags and 40kg kegs, moving hoses, stooping, climbing, and working in tight spaces. This position requires close communication with the team and the ability to work independently. Some culture shock is inevitable so patience and willingness to adapt to other cultures is mandatory. As this will likely be a big move for any potential candidates we require a 2-year contract.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Conduct active, effective communication, and be able to adapt and work with people with various cultural background.
- Work with prescribed cleaning chemicals.
- Maintain sanitary standards for the microbial integrity of the products.
- Maintain the operational and aesthetic condition of the facility.
- Operate brewing, cellar, filtration, and sanitation systems according to good manufacturing practice.
- Maintain established quality parameters within the raw material handling, brewing, cellar, and filtration operations.
- Record and verify all required data within the brewery from raw material to packaged beer.
- Assist in the inventory and procurement of raw material and equipment.
- Create new recipes.
- Assist with developing label/advertising concepts.
- Assist with QA-QC program.
- Participate in sensory analysis.
- Monitor mechanical and operational integrity of brewing equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance of brewing equipment.
- Assist in packaging operations.
- Represent Carakale in media, festivals, trade fairs, etc.
Job Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree or 2-year technical college degree. Completion of a recognized brewing certification program is a plus.
- Minimum of two years professional brewing experience.
- Is adept at DE filtration.
- Has superior communication skills.
- Has good mechanical skills and is able to improvise on the fly.
- Is detail-oriented.
- Is familiar with brewhouse operations.
- Skills in basic word processing, statistical, and production software.
