    We are seeking a Head brewer to join our team. The candidate will be working directly with our packaging and cellaring team and report to the Brewmaster. Our company is currently expanding our sales to the Pacific Northwest and a few key spots internationally as well as working to build out our distillery.
    About us: Lanikai Brewing Company is an award winning, Island Inspired® authentic Hawaiian craft beer company making 100% of our brews in beautiful Kailua, Hawaii. We take our cues from premium, local, rare, and exotic ingredients grown by local farmers and foraged across the Pacific to bring you bold and flavorful beers that you will find nowhere else utilizing Hawaiian terroir. We focus on authentic Hawaiian beers that represent Hawaii here and now. We harvest, forage and work with farmers for many of our ingredients. Recently, we also launched our Hawaiian Wild Ale program utilizing yeasts and bacteria sourced from the mountaintop, to the volcano to the farm to the beach. Our 10 BBL Production facility is located in Kailua Hawaii.
    Head Brewer duties may include:
    • Create new recipes and maintain the quality of current recipes
    • Manage barrel aged, sour beer and cask beer programs.
    • Manage yeast and fermentations
    • Impeccable cleaning standards and procedures as we have a mixed program
    • Adapt and enforce standard operating procedures.
    • Knowledge of equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
    • Maintain a clean and sanitary brewhouse environment. Brewhouse must always
    • be clean and ready to show off for visitors.
    • Manage raw materials inventories and materials contracts.
    • Maintain daily production records.
    • Schedule and oversee repairs and maintenance on all equipment.
    • Communicate shift schedule for all brewers and cellar staff.
    • Encourage safety, quality and efficiency.
    • Work with sales team developing sales growth strategies
    • Work closely with the tap room staff. Educate taproom employees in beer.
    • Availability for sales meetings, competitions, festivals, tap take-overs.
    • Show interest in our operations, growth, community, and future.
    • Valid drivers license.
    • Compensation dependent upon experience.
    • Work schedule expected - 40 hours per week including some weekends and holidays when needed.
    Job Qualifications
    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Extensive knowledge of practices, methods, tools, and equipment used in production brewing.
    • Extensive knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions associated with work.
    • Ability to interpret technical bulletins and schematics on equipment related to work.
    • Ability to provide and follow oral and written instructions.
    Education and Experience
    • Minimum of 2 years Head Brewer (Preferred) OR
    • Minimum of 5 years brewing experience in a production-brewing environment.
    • College Degree, Brewing education, certification, or undergraduate education required.
    • Must be 21-years of age.
    Physical Conditions and Nature of Work Contacts
    • Involves frequent walking, lifting, and carrying objects weighing 50lbs routinely, occasional lifting of 100-150lbs.
    • May require standing for long periods of time (4+ consecutive hours).
    • Frequent use of latches, hand tools, clamps, hoses, etc., requiring manipulative skills and hand-eye coordination.
    • Must be able to operate fork lift (training provided), and pallet jack. Regular contact with production employees and management, as well as periodic, but consistent, customer interaction.
