    WOOD CELLAR MANAGER - Mixed Fermentation

    Hello friends. We have an exciting opportunity for a progressive-minded, uniquely talented individual to join and grow with our very tight family here at Tree House with the full-time position of Mixed Fermentation Wood Cellar Manager. We want you to work with us to cultivate and nourish our burgeoning mixed fermentation program with a progressive and curious mind and a relentless pursuit of perfection.

    As the Tree House Mixed Fermentation Wood Cellar Manager, you will be responsible for the following:
    • Managing several concurrent fermentations to create and explore desired flavor profiles.
    • Managing and maintaining a database of existing barrel stock and assessing progress and important data points on an ongoing basis.
    • Maintaining several cultures and assisting us to define and blend new ones.
    • Propagation of cultures & determination of pitch rates.
    • Creating and implementing Standard Operating Procedures for use throughout the program.
    • Planning and overseeing the bottling, cellaring, and conditioning of various mixed fermentation beers.
    • Managing a bounty of fresh, native fruit for use in the wood cellar.
    • Working within a generous budget to achieve beers full of authentic character, terroir, and distinctiveness.
    • Developing direct vendor relationships to source the most unique and interesting barrels for use at Tree House
    • Anything and everything that contributes to a positive, fruitful outcome for the mixed fermentation program.
    • A number of other fermentation related side projects.
    • Applicant Requirements:
    • Extraordinary oral and written communication skills. Ability to lead a team to achieve predetermined goals.
    • You are self-motivated, with demonstrable creative and critical thinking capabilities.
    • A quick learner who is able to work with minimal or no supervision.
    • 2 + Years in a highly relevant role, with demonstrable experience of culture management, barrel management, tasting, & blending; an experienced, educated, and knowledgeable palate. A track record of creating beers of consequence.
    • Must possess a high-level understanding and intimate knowledge of all aspects of a mixed fermentation wood cellar and packaging - wood quality & characteristics, all previously defined microbes, yeast strain characteristics, repitching, bottle conditioning, and more.
    • Ability to lift, push, & pull in excess of 50 #.
    • Ability to work comfortably in a driven environment
    • Ability to work long and varied hours
    • Ability to multitask and work coolly and professionally in time sensitive situations
    • Meticulous attention to detail
    • You are not afraid to speak your mind
