Job Title: Head Brewer

Job Description:

Established in 1965, Traffic Jam is known throughout Midtown for our in-house bakery, microbrewery, and dairy. After a decade-long battle, Traffic Jam became the first brewpub in Michigan. Since then, we have been brewing an uncommon, ever-changing selection of hand-crafted beers.

Responsibilities:

All aspects of brewhouse and cellar operations
Recipe development
Maintain a safe and sanitary work environment
Monitor and record daily cellar processes
Raw material and chemical inventory management and ordering
Recordkeeping and filing
Cost control management
Routine maintenance and trouble shooting
Knowledge sharing of beer and brewing with restaurant guests and staff
Manage brewery related vendor relationships
Participation in beer events, festivals, customer relations, and marketing events
Participation in guild affiliations
Candidate should also exhibit the following knowledge and abilities:

Time management, task prioritization, production schedule, and staff trainings
Strong leadership skills
Support and interact with guests, staff, and management
Lift 55# from ground to shoulder height in excess of 30 times per day
Team lift 200# in excess of 10 times per day
Climb stairs and ladders in excess of 30 times per day
Able to work on your feet for long periods of time in wet, hot, and cold environments
Able to work safely in a fast-paced industrial setting
Exceptional recordkeeping skills
Flexible work schedule
Able to work independently

Requirements:
Candidates MUST HAVE at least two years professional brewing experience
Candidates must be friendly, personable, flexible, accommodating, confident, self-reliant, team oriented, and have a strong love of craft beer

Compensation based on experience.
