  • Lab/Cellar Tech - The Lost Abbey/Port Brewing San Marcos, CA

    As Lab/Cellar Tech you will be responsible for daily sample taking and data collection, as well as performing assorted tasks in the cellar. You will report to the Head Brewer and work with him to ensure that all quality requirements are met. This is an hourly position with a pay rate that is DOE.

    Duties

    ● Monitoring fermentation
    ● Cleaning and sanitizing fermentation and bright beer tanks
    ● Capping and crashing tanks
    ● Performing microbiological testing on wort, beer, water, and equipment
    ● Maintaining cleanliness and organization of all lab areas
    ● Run tests on beer and wort, including pH, color, turbidity, ABV, DO, and IBU
    ● Performing routine water testing including chlorine, alkalinity, and pH
    ● Pulling barrel samples
    ● Yeast Handling (Cell count, harvest, pitch)
    ● Maintaining calibration and cleanliness of lab/brewery instrumentation
    ● Various Cellar Tasks (dry hopping, KO, etc.)
    ● Performing all tasks according to SOP
    ● Adhering to all safety regulations at all times
    ● Ensure all necessary lab samples are taken

    Minimum Qualifications

    21 Years or Older
    At least 2 years lab experience (in a brewery is a plus)
    Ability to lift 55lbs and move 165lbs.
    Knowledge of off flavors in beer
    Literate with MSOffice
