    Quality Technician – Parkesburg, PA location

    We are seeking an upbeat, forward-thinking Quality Technician with a positive, can-do attitude for Artisanal Brewing Ventures to assure and control the highest possible quality standards for our beer.

    Artisanal Brewing Ventures (ABV) is a top 10 regional craft brewer in the United States and is the parent company of three long standing, successful craft breweries; Victory Brewing, established in 1996 in Downingtown, Pennsylvania, Southern Tier Brewing, established in 2002 in Lakewood, NY, and Sixpoint Brewing, established in 2004 in Brooklyn, NY.

    Job Summary

    The Quality Technician specializes in quality control testing, analysis, reporting, and troubleshooting in all areas of production. This includes sterile work for microbiological stability screening, fermentation tracking, chemistry, statistics, sensory, and package testing. Specific duties will vary as part of an agile, adaptable, and cross-trained team.

    The Quality Technician is part of an experienced, hard-working team of brewing science professionals with a determination to get it right the first time. This is a shift position requiring regular evening and night work. Willingness to share coverage for occasional weekend and holiday OT as a team may be necessary to accomplish production and lab goals. This position is primarily based out of the Victory Parkesburg facility, but some work in Downingtown or Kennett Square facilities will be necessary.

    Reports to: Quality Manager

    Key Responsibilities
    • Collaborates with other departments and team members to tackle issues as they arise.
    • Collects, organizes, and reports QA/QC data from raw materials through packaging.
    • Maintains, calibrates, and verifies accuracy of equipment and instrumentation.
    • Performs chemical and analytical testing on product samples.
    • Performs microbiological stability testing on product samples using aseptic technique.
    • Follows Standard Operating Procedures to execute a robust testing regimen.
    • Understands and follows all safety procedures and wears appropriate PPE.
    • Performs other duties as necessary.

    Requirements
    • Brewing school or a degree in natural sciences is preferred.
    • One year of relevant production experience is preferred.
    • Easy to work with – excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and positive attitude.
    • Coachable – ability to learn, adapt, and grow professionally.
    • Focused and determined work ethic.
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a cohesive team to accomplish lab and production goals.
    • Willingness to perform work in each of Victory’s three locations – Parkesburg, Downingtown, and Kennett Square as necessary.
    • Willingness to regularly work evening and night shifts.
    • Willingness to work weekend or holiday shifts as necessary to accomplish lab & production goals.
    • Ability to perform under pressure and prioritize multiple demands.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality of recipes, processes, procedures, and other proprietary information.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

    Physical Demands
    • Ability to stand for long periods of time and do physically demanding work is required.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. is required.
    • Willingness to work in an environment with high noise levels is required.
    • Willingness to occasionally work nights, weekends, or holidays as necessary is required.
    • Alcohol Responsibility – The candidate must fully understand that they are a representative of not only the company, but of the alcohol beverage industry. They are to conduct themselves within the limits of the law and with concern to the education of responsible consumption at all times. This includes working hours, trade shows, festivals and while entertaining in the name of the company or its affiliates. Any poor reflection or legal matters that may arise due to poor judgment may be dealt with by means of disciplinary action up to and including termination.

    Supervisory Responsibility

    This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

    Work Environment

    The Quality Technician will primarily perform work duties in a laboratory, with frequent trips to the production and warehouse areas. While performing the duties of the job, the Quality Technician is regularly exposed to a damp, wet environment with hot liquids, airborne particles, chemicals and moving machinery. There can be loud noise levels, and protective eyewear is required on the production floor at all times.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time, salaried position. Days of work are typically Monday through Friday. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
