Since 1995, Carolina Brewery has been brewing the freshest beer in North Carolina. Currently we have 2 locations: a 10 bbl brewpub in downtown Chapel Hill on historic Franklin Street and a second 15 bbl Pittsboro location that serves as both a brew pub and production facility. Our wholesale distribution encompasses North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

Position Title: Brewmaster
Reports to: Upper Management

Summary: Carolina Brewery is seeking an experienced brewer who is willing to work hard and help support the continued growth of the company. The Brewmaster is responsible for being proactive in managing the brewery in all aspects of grain to glass processes, including participation into distribution requirements.

Basic Duties and Responsibilities
• Adhere to all safety procedures
• Maintain a clean and safe work space
• Forecasting production, scheduling and material ordering
• Wholesale distribution shipping, receiving, and communication
• Diligence in record keeping and documentation
• Tracking batch data with QC/QA analytics
• TTB and tax filing
• Raw material ordering
• Brew, cellar, transfer, filter, package beer according to SOP’s and scheduling
• Yeast propagations and management
• CIP processes
• Basic laboratory work
• Work as a cohesive and efficient team player

Qualification Requirements
• At least 3 years professional brewing experience
• Knowledge of all processes from grain to glass, including recipe development
• Proficiency in time management, record keeping, forecasting, and budgeting
• Experience in product packaging (canning experience preferred)
• Laboratory techniques (cell counting, DO meter, etc)
• Basic understanding of Excel, Gdrive, and other web based platforms

Working Conditions
• Lift 55 lbs. from the ground to shoulder
• Climb stairs, ramps, ladders
• Work in small and confined spaces
• Be able to stand on feet for extended periods of time
