  • New Brewery Looking for its Head Brewer

    Roller Town Beer Works is seeking a qualified individual to lead our brewing team. Our brewery will be located on the town square in Celina, Texas. Our Head Brewer will be responsible for fully designing the brewery, deciding upon and ordering the equipment, setting up the QC lab, developing recipes, brewing, cleaning and cellaring. This position offers growth and the ability to earn ownership for the right candidate. Our head brewer will be an integral part of our business and success. As such, we are looking for a long-term business partner not just an employee.
    Qualifications:
    • Ideal applicant will be experienced in various aspects of brewhouse and cellar operations and will have strong command of the equipment needed to run a brewery as it scales.
    • Must have the ability to create recipes for world class beer. An affinity for classic lagers styles is a must, though we are open to brewing a variety of styles.
    • Able to create and manage a QC lab to ensure the highest quality.
    • Able to foresee staffing needs, hire and manage people.
    • Preference will be given to those that have attended a recognized brewing program.

    Duties/Responsibilities:
    • Designing brewery: work with contractors, determine and order equipment, oversee installation.
    • Cleaning: equipment, tanks, beer lines, floors, everything
    • Brewhouse and cellar operations: Raw ingredient handling, all aspects of a brew day, transferring wort/beer, yeast handling, packaging, monitoring fermentations, etc.
    • Ordering: Raw Materials for brewing, and chemical. Spot purchasing and contracting of hops as necessary
    • Grain pick-up coordination
    • Maintenance: brewery equipment as well as general facility maintenance
    • Paperwork: recipe development, production logs, inventory reports, packaging logs, etc.. Work with Owner and Administrative Manager with Federal Excise Tax Filings, COLA Filing (as needed), and brand registration TABC. Submit beer information to Owner and Manager for menu/website edits and staff training.
    • QC: maintain lab, ensure high level of QC
    • Field work: account visits, participation in festivals, tastings, representing our brand in the market, etc.
    Personal Skills/Attributes:
    • Strong verbal communication and organizational skills
    • Problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work alone and with a team
    • Mechanical aptitude
    • Good with clients and vendors
    • Able to lift up to 100 pounds, able to twist, turn, be able to reach above your shoulders, and work in standing/walking/climbing position at a steady pace
    • Able to work days, nights, and weekends as necessary
