Head Brewer / Brewery Operations Manager
Big Ash Brewing is a start-up microbrewery & taproom located in Anderson Township, Cincinnati, OH, opening in the summer of 2019. We have a 5,400 sq. ft building, seating for 150, an outdoor patio, self-serve tap system, beer hall, live music, party room, gourmet pizza, craft spirits and wine. The 7bbl brew house is on order and building construction is about to begin. First year forecast is 1,000 bbl.
We are looking for an experienced Head Brewer / Operations Manager who’s up for the challenge and responsible for all aspects of production, grain to glass, including creative recipe development, purchasing, brewing, cellar & yeast management, quality control.
Requirements / Responsibilities
• Minimum 2 years brewing, and brewery management experience
• Experience installing a brew system and scaling up recipes
• Proven ability and passion for creative recipe development
• Technical knowledge and maintenance skills of all brewhouse parts (Boiler, pumps, glycol, etc.)
• Ability to manage and keep records on inventory and brewing schedule
• Discipline to maintain an exceptionally clean and orderly brewery
• Ability to carry 55lb bags up steps
• Understanding of and ability to manage costs
• Assist in developing and maintaining operating procedures and safety protocols
• Solid verbal & written skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office & cloud computing
• Formal brewing education is a plus

Our Head Brewer will be passionate and disciplined, enjoy customer interaction and a highly collaborative work environment. The Head Brewer will report to the Managing Partner and will hire and manage an Assistant Brewer. Team work with the Tap Room Manager and other staff members is essential.
We are looking for someone who is in for the long run and we will provide a competitive salary, paid vacation, and performance-based compensation.
