Platform is a fast-growing production size brewery located in Cleveland, Ohio with taproom locations in Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati. We are looking to hire an assistant brewer/ Cellarmen in the Cleveland taproom, which houses a 10-bbl, 2-vessel PKW brewhouse with 10 FVs and 6 BTs. The Cleveland taproom specializes in experimental styles but will still brew the classic styles.
Description: The assistant brewer job is a full-time, hourly position, that is Monday-Friday about 8 hours/day with infrequent weekend work. The assistant brewer assists the head brewer with maintaining the cleanliness of the brewpub including the brewhouse, tanks, malt storage, and walk-in cooler. The assistant also supports the head brewer during brew days and is charged with preparing and cleaning all fermentation and serving tanks. Once trained, other responsibilities include:
Complete cellar autonomy including transfers, kegging, fermentation tracking, tank cleaning, and prep
Brew day assistance for grain in, grain out, malt milling, lautering and everything in between
Maintain cleanliness of entire brew space by scrubbing almost all surfaces
Work in conjunction with the Taproom Manager to facilitate and track cleaning the 32 draft lines
Raw Material Inventory Tracking
Qualifications and Requirements:
Able to lift and carry 55 lbs
Move and lift up to 165 lbs
Able to stand and crouch for hours on end
Mechanical aptitude and proficient hand dexterity
Comfortable working in and around hot and cold environments ranging from 32 F to 180 F
Impeccable time management
Ability to self-manage, prioritize, and work independently
Attention to detail
Basic understanding of chemicals used for cleaning, their purposes, and proper safety handling
Aptitude and enthusiasm to learn the technical nature of commercial brewing
Prior professional brewing experience preferred
Position qualifies for health benefits after 90 days of employment. Pay is dependent on experience.
