Boom Island is a Belgian inspired Brewery and Tap room founded in 2011 in Minneapolis, MN. Boom Island brews a mind-boggling, palate-expanding array of Old and New World style beers using traditional Belgian methods. Inspired by one of the worldÂ’s richest beer cultures, weÂ’re always exploring new styles, flavors and techniques. We are seeking an Assistant Brewer as part of our expansion plans that include developing new styles, offering canned beer and relocating to a new production facility and tap room. This position is located in Minneapolis but will be relocating to the western suburbs this summer.
Specific job duties:
Execute the entire milling, brewing and packaging processes
Monitor and report progress of beer throughout its cycle from production of wort to completion of fermentation and report to head brewer.
Oversee and assist all production side areas as needed.
Maintain a clean and organized brewery
Occasionally make packed beer deliveries
Participate in Boom Island events and represent Boom Island and its products professionally and passionately.
Participate in ongoing education regarding brewing skills, techniques through classes, seminars, etc.
Keep accurate daily records and tracking.
Operate a fork lift
Position requirements and qualifications:
A minimum of 2 years of experience in a 15 bbl or larger professional brewery
At least 1 year of experience with the traditional Belgian Brewing process
Fermentation/Brewing degree or certificate from an accredited college.
Must be physically fit and able to manipulate full kegs and other heavy objects easily
Excellent communication and writing skills.
An absolutely thorough attention to detail, organization and cleanliness.
An absolute passion and understanding for the tradition of Belgian brewing.
Strong technical knowledge of the entire brew process from wort production to packaging
Strong troubleshooting and mechanical skills regarding brew house and brewery equipment.
Able to work flexible hours, days, evenings, and weekends as needed
Over 21 years of age
Must have reliable transportation and maintain a valid driverÂ’s license
