  • Head Brewer needed in North Jersey, right outside of Manhattan

    Hackensack Brewing Company (Hackensack, NJ) is currently looking for a head brewer to take charge of our 2-vessel 5bbl production facility. We are in need of an experienced brewer, preferably with 3-5 years of professional brewing experience. We are offering a competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with experience. Great opportunity for somebody looking to get their foot in the door with a start-up brewery (we’re less than a month old). Recipe formulation is not a must, but input in this area is always welcomed. The current head brewer is also the owner and while brewing is his passion, he needs to step back and focus on the bigger picture for the responsible growth of the business. We’ve already outgrown our current setup and will be doubling our fermentation capacity within the next two weeks with the addition of 3 more 10bbl tanks (bringing the total to 3 5bbl FVs, and 4 10bbl FVs, as well as a 10bbl Brite Tank). Schedule would be 5 days a week, Monday through Friday. Hours are somewhat flexible, within reason.

    Requirements:

    · Strong technical understanding of the entire brewing and cellaring process.

    · Excellent management skills and the ability to teach new staff. An assistant brewer will be our next hire.

    · Good energy and the ability to have positive interactions with staff and customers is a must. If you like brewing, but don’t like people…this job isn’t for you.

    · Strong understanding of general brewery equipment.

    · Oversee the ordering of all raw materials and hop contracts.

    · Strong mechanical acumen. We are a small brewery that fixes as much as possible in house.

    · 3-5 years of beer production experience at a production brewery.
