  • Cellar/Brewer Position Available in Historic Charleston, South Carolina

    Palmetto Brewing Company is seeking a brewer/Cellar Operator in Charleston, SC. Ideal candidate will have 2 years of brewing experience on a 10 BBL or larger brewhouse, brewing multiple turns a day. Salary DOE. Health, vision, Holiday and PTO benefits available.     Duties include but not limited to:
    • Perform all aspects of the brewing process according to CVBC standards.
    • Yeast Management (harvesting, Cell count/viability, pitching, etc.)
    • Assist cellar with managing fermentations, operating DE filter, and CIP operations.
    • Complete required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
    • Properly record all brewhouse activities in brewhouse software (EKOS).
    • Assist Q/A manager and Head Brewer in completing brewhouse and cellar lab testing.
    • Be able to regularly lift up to 55 lbs and move 160 lbs as needed.
    • Maintain equipment and other areas of the brewery and facilities.
    • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workspace.
    • Receive raw materials, rotate stock, and take inventories.
    • Alert Head Brewer when inventory levels fall below set level.
    • Ensure cleanliness of all areas of the brewhouse.

    Requirements:
    • 2+ years of wort production and cellar experience (preferably in a 10BBL brewhouse or larger)
    • High School Graduate or equivalent. Brewing education is a plus.
    • Team player – ability to work well with others to accomplish team goals.
    • Ability to think critically and multitask.
    • Attention to detail and ability to work unsupervised while maintaining safety and quality standards.
    • Strong time-management skills.
    • Good communication skills.
    • Ability to operate a forklift and pallet jack.
    • Ability to safely handle chemicals on a regular basis.
    • Ability to work in a standing and/or walking position for long periods of time.
    • Ability to climb and work on a ladder.
