Head Brewer Wanted-Hawaii
Hilo Brewing, CO is looking for an experienced Head Brewer on The Big Island of Hawaii.
Now is an exciting opportunity to join an established growing organization.
Duties & Responsibilities:
*Maintain proficiency and perform brewhouse operations, including, but not limited to milling,
Mashing, lautering, boiling, hop additions, dry hop tanks, whirlpooling, wort cooling, equipment CIP, fermentation management,
Brite tank management, carbonate beer and all quality checks.
*Perform and supervise cellar operations, included, but not limited to all tanks & vessel & equipment CIP & COP, yeast harvesting-propagation
and pitching, centrifuge operation, keg CIP-washing & filling, beer transfers and quality checks.
*Communicate with management of all in process information each shift.
*Communicate all in process information to colleagues for their shifts.
*Accurately document required paperwork daily for brewing & cellar activities.
*Operate a fork lift safely and get certified with our company.
*Work and or assist with light mechanical repairs to equipment as necessary.
*Report any mechanical issues to management.
*Work with all quality control protocols.
*Assist in packaging when necessary.
*Assist other employees as necessary.
*Perform other jobs and duties in the brewery as needed.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
*Advanced knowledge of brewing science.
*Organizational and priority management skills.
*Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
*Accept guidance & direction from management and provide guidance & direction to oneself and subordinates
*Knowledge of food safety and good manufacturing practices.
*Mechanical aptitude.
*Ability to hold self and others accountable to safe work operations and procedures.
*Well individually and as part of a team.
*Sustainability mindset.
*Maintain a high level of attention to detail.
*Excellent communication skills.
*Computer proficiency.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions:
*Able to safely and frequently lift items weighing 55 plus pounds to shoulder height.
*Near constant standing, walking, grabbling, pulling, lifting, crouching and bending.
*Must be comfortable with working at moderate heights, using ladders.
*Able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment.
*Daily exposure to varied temperatures, wet floors, trip hazards, CIP chemicals, steam, hot water and loud noises.
Qualifications:
*Minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a Brewer in a production brewery.
*A College Education or Certificate in Brewing Science Preferred.
*A College Education in Chemistry or Related Science Preferred.
*Commitment to excellence, quality and high standards.
*Must be at least 21 years of age.
*May require occasional weekend and or evening work.
