Big Draft Brewing Co will be located in a newly renovated Old Hardware Store in White Sulphur Springs, WV. We are looking for a passionate, enthusiastic, technically sound, quality focused Brewer to join our start-up Brewpub. Since this will initially be a part-time position until closer to the actual opening, we would prefer someone in the local area. We absolutely need a brewer who isn't afraid to push the boundaries and can bring great beers to life with your eyes closed. Barrel aging and sour experience is a plus, but not necessary. He/She will work with an extraordinary degree of autonomy, managing everything from grain to glass, in a casual Brewpub atmosphere. We are seeking a person who is outgoing, quality and safety minded, hard-working, and self-motivated knowing what needs to be done in a safe and sanitary manner.
This will be a public position; meaning the brewer will have interactions with customers and shall be able convey their passion to the public to promote craft beer and the Big Draft Brewing Co. This position allows for a creative individual to come and work on recipe development. The Brewpub will be part of a larger venue comprised of a Retail Market/Cafe, Pizza and BBQ restaurants, bar, and outdoor activities located in a large green area behind the building and next to the river.
We are looking for an individual that will be able to:
• Make the best beer on the east coast and put a line around the corner.
• Do all the other things brewers do...yes this includes cleaning.
• Schedule all beer production
• Provide quality control and management
• Accurately record all inventory (raw materials, finished goods) for costing and
controlling purposes.
• Understand Federal and State excise tax for the purpose of recording and reporting.
• Research, create and implement new recipes
• Maintain and service all equipment.
• Ensure a safe work environment.
• Create a "presence" in the brewpub as the Brewer to enhance the brewpub’s
"community" atmosphere with consumers.
• Work with the owner of the brewpub to conduct brewery tours for patrons as needed.
Job Requirements:
• Past brewery-brewing experience
• A thorough understanding of the brewing process
• Knowledge of chemicals used in cleaning cycles and how to handle and use them safely
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly and move around 165 lbs.
• Good at fixing things
• Must have a positive attitude
• Must have flexibility with working hours to work throughout the week and some weekends
• Be flexible and show little drama
