Master Brewer
The New Maritime Beer Company is looking for a passionate, positive, hardworking, team oriented, fun, creative and quality focused individual to become our head brewer at a 15 BBL start up brewery in Miramichi, NB, Canada.
Duties will include raw materials acquisition and handling, recipe formulation, brewing, cellaring, packaging, cleaning and sanitation. The head brewer will be intimate with the development and future success of the brewery. Quality and consistency will be paramount, adherence to procedures and detailed cleaning regiments will be required.
Job Description / Key Responsibilities will include:
- Successful candidate will participate in all functions of brewhouse: brewing, cellaring, yeast management, kegging, cleaning etc.
- Creating unique craft beer recipes
-Maintain acceptable inventory of raw ingredients and finished product
-Maintaining clean and sanitized equipment, tanks and brewery to
- Work closely with operations manager to plan production timeline achieve consistent beer quality
- Taste beer and making adjustments as needed to improve final quality as needed
- Participate in lab procedures including but not limited to testing yeast vitaility and viability, by product amount, oxygen content etc.
- Develop a quality assurance program to maintain a consistent product
- Manage brew team and resources effectively.
- Maintain accurate records including brewing logs for in house and liquor board use
- Participate in securing quality ingredients and building relationships with suppliers.
- Candidate must be able to perform all physical duties associated with the position including but not limited to lifting upwards of 55lbs, stand/walk for long periods, bending / twisting , reaching over head,
Qualifications / Traits our Master Brewer Must Possess:
3-5 years of production brewery experience
Strong work ethic
Passion for craft beer and ability to develop quality recipes on an ongoing basis
Strong communications skills.
Open-mindedness to new ideas and problem solving.
Enthusiasm and strong personal knowledge of the brewing industry and market.
Strong computer skills (Brewing automation software)
Ability to interact effectively at all levels within the organization.
Ability to multi-task and be flexible.
Understands and follows all safety procedures
Ability to have FUN and remain positive in demanding situations.
A desire to be a part of a start-up that has not only local but regional and national growth aspirations.
Formal brewing education considered an asset.
-Salary will be competitive and based on applicant's experience.

Our mission is to offer exceptional products & a Modern Maritime experience that celebrates the best of the playful laid-back east coast lifestyle in a fresh contemporary way. Our brewhouse will have a 15BBL system and an on-site taproom. We will establish ourselves in the Miramichi region in year one, with plans to expand throughout New Brunswick, the Maritimes, and beyond in the years ahead.
