    Head Brewer for The London Beer Factory – Experience Required and Job Description

    The London Beer Factory was founded in 2014 and is now a leading independent brewery producing a wide range of modern beers packaged into can and keg. We produce fresh, exceptional and progressive beers whilst maintaining quality at the core of everything we do. We distribute our beers through the on and off trade within London and across the country as well as exporting to a number of European countries. We also have an extensive Barrel Aging Programme called The Barrel Project based in Bermondsey, where we produce experimental mixed fermentation beers.
    We are looking for an individual who is passionate about producing exceptional beers of uncompromising quality. This is a senior position that requires someone who is capable of taking the company through a period of rapid growth and expansion.

    Experience Required

    Qualification – Masters in Brewing
    5+ years working in the Brewing Industry
    2+ years working as Head Brewer/Head of Production
    Engineering background preferable
    Excellent problem solver with the ability to quickly prioritise tasks and implement an action plan
    HACCP level 3 with proven experience in writing and maintaining the HACCP plan
    Experience with managing internal and external audits such as SALSA
    Experience leading a team, managing a schedule and maintaining high standards
    Brewing a wide range of beer styles including, lagers, East Coast/West Coast IPAs, Kettle Sours, Stouts, Barrel Aged Beers, Saisons etc
    A deep understanding of the full brewing process, fermentation, conditioning, packaging into keg, can, bottle and cask, yeast management (propagating, cropping and repitching), microbiological analysis etc

    Job Description

    Responsible for managing the production team and production schedule
    Implement continuous improvement to optimise output and generate efficiencies
    Oversea quality control and sensory analysis
    Manage raw material and finish goods stock requirements
    Oversea microbiological analysis
    Maintain and improve record keeping
    Oversea the HACCP plan, update when necessary and review as required
    Plan and oversea the implementation of new equipment
    Create recipes for new beers and collaborate with other breweries
