    POSITION: Controls Engineer

    POSITION DESCRIPTION
    The Control Engineer will work within the Research & Development department to develop electrical and controls system solutions based on engineering principles as well as analyze project requirements and perform technical calculations supporting design including electrical requirements, safety standards, and motor controls.
    • Participate in design review activities/meetings; communicate product status and identify obstacles to meeting pre-defined timelines
    • Design, prototype, and develop bills of material for filling machines and systems
    • Deliver prototype products to internal and external customers on time, every time
    • Work closely with the production team and provide input at early stages of product development to ensure product requirements can be met using robust/proven manufacturing methods
    • Document product/process changes related to prototype
    • Update ERM with pertinent manufacturing data obtained during prototype manufacturing and BOM development
    • Support the manufacture, build and validation of systems which include pneumatics, servos, vfd’s, relays, communication networks, touchscreens, pushbuttons and robotic integration.
    • Create customer documentation such as user manuals, programming diagrams, network diagrams, and electrical drawings
    • Work with the assembly team to answer questions from and/or solve issues with any production machines during the build and check out
    • Provide support to the sales & service organizations to answer questions from and/or solve issues for existing and potential customers

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS
    • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a similar applicable discipline
    • 0-3 years of experience in machine design
    o Preference will be given to candidates with food and beverage packaging industry experience

    SKILLS & SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE
    • Demonstrated problem analysis and creative problem resolution skills
    • Experience with ethernet protocols
    • Experience with PLCs (Codesys preferred)
    • Preference given to candidates with AutoCAD experience, especially electrical panel design
    • Experience with ERM software (NetSuite preferred)
    • Critical thinking with exceptional problem-solving skills, able to work independently and in team environments. Ability to architect programs that are simple to test, well documented and versatile.
    • Ability to work closely with manufacturing personnel to produce and test prototype products with minimal disruption to production schedules
    • Ability to work with service technicians to diagnose and resolve issues with machines in the field
